Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
My iPhone 4 is frozen after updating the Facebook app with today's update. I turned it off, and now it will not restart. Apple logo shows for upwards of 15 minutes. Does anyone have any ideas? I am on the road for work, and do not have the computer with me that I sync my phone to. This is potentially a debilitating injury, as I basically live on my phone when I am on the road (and at home as well).

Same exact problem here. Glad I'm not the only one. I updated the Facebook app about a half hour ago. The app updated but when I opened it was just stuck on the blue Facebook screen. I deleted the FB app off my phone and tried installing the app from scratch. It got stuck on installing, so I restarted the phone. My phone won't turn on now. Really freaking out.

Exact same scenario. Stuck on the blue screen, deleted the app, tried to reload, phone froze. My phone ended up turning back on, but it took about 20 minutes, though it seems to be ok now. I've used a few apps since it came back on. Very strange. I want to reload the app, but I'm hesitant. Good luck.
try a restore of the iOS backup to get back to the last usable state :

Your phone will then be wiped and reinstalled to factory state.
After that itunes will ask you if you want your backup on the iphone, so your apps, contacts etc.
Looks like I'm in the same boat! Hooked phone up to computer, but it doesn't recognize the device...now what?

Frozen on blue facebook screen so I deleted the app, and tried restarting the phone. Stuck on the apple logo screen for over an hour now and restoring the phone is not working!

Holy crap, the same thing is happening to me. It's been like this for 90 minutes now, it will restart about once every 10 minutes, but I am stuck on the white Apple logo. Happened after the Facebook update wouldn't install properly... HELP!

I am having the same problem downloaded the facebook app it installed froze then I deleted and reinstalled and it got hung reinstalling so I tried reseting the phone and now I am stuck with the apple icon as well.
Same exact thing with me. Really ******* me off.
My restore isn't working due to error 1611. Any more ideas? :/

Same problem for me (iPhone 4, latest OS). Updated FB app today and hadn't looked at it until about an hour ago. Noticed the app was stuck on the blue splash screen, so I deleted and went to redownload. The install was taking so long and I had so little battery, I just powered off and now I can't get my phone to turn back on. It just freezes on the apple. I'm realizing how sick it is to be so dependent on a phone, but I actually don't know how I will wake up in the morning even without my iPhone alarm. Any updates from anyone able to get their phones back?
Exact same thing has happened to me. I don't want to be forced into doing a system restore as I will lose all my recent photos etc. This has happened to me about 6 months ago where the fb app crashed and I was forced to do a system restore, losing all my family Xmas photos and videos. Not f**king happy, someone needs to be held accountable for this I want compensation.
Same thing happened to me... NOT happy. I am restoring it as we speak... Luckily, I'm planning on getting the new iPhone 4s on Friday anyways, but was hoping to back all of my crap up first. Way to go Facebook.
