iTunes 10.5 does not load shared library files

Since today's update to iTunes 10.5 from 10.4.1. iTunes can no longer access the shared music library I have on my iomega NAS disk. It sees the disk and lists it as a shared library, but when I click on the library it goes into an endless loading cycle. In the past it might take a minute or so to load the library, but since the update, iTunes never actually does load it.

There is no error message, not even an operation time-out. I can't see anything rrelevant in the console. It just goes on for ever trying to load the shared library.

It was loading the shsred library just fine until this evening when the update downloaded.

Any ideas?

techguy123: how can one downgrade to iTunes 10.4? Do you have a link to share?

Also, just as an aside, I find it disturbing and very irritating that when I clicked the link to "view the full discussion" in the email notification I recieved about this new post, rather than take me to said "full discussion," Apple routed me to its main Apple Store page. WTH? I'm already struggling with one crappy product, what makes you think I'd want to buy another? Just take me to the place you promised to! GRRR!

I don't think they made any change to the protocals in 10.5, 10.5.1 works with my Linksys Home Media Server, 10.5, 10.5.2.10.5.3 DO NOT WORK.

Apple Broke it, Fixed it, then Broke It again.

as of now i just maintain one machine that has 10.5.1 but thats not a good long term solution, hoping 10.5.4 fixes iot again.

Putting it on the NAS manufacturs is BS cause 10.5.1 works!

FYI, further iTunes 10.5.x updates broke the connectivity with this Buffalo NAS but 10.6 seems to have restored it!

Trust me, I have the My Book Live and the Itunes Library does not sync as of yet. If you have better results please let me know.

I have the latest firmware and I could tell u it doesn't allow streaming of your music library. If there is anyone out there that has My Book Live that works with Itunes, please let me know.

I got my iTunes and NAS working and the solution was so simple it is silly.

Simply went to iTunes/Preferences/Advance option and clicked Change for "iTunes Media folder location". This brings up a window to select the NAS in the Finder and point the path to the Music folder and - Bingo! - it was done.

Now all my tunes are there and all the appropriate administration/Library files were added too. Everything functions as if the music files were on my 'puter.

Just installed iTunes 10.6 and no luck. Still can't access the HP MediaSmart's iTunes server, as has been the case ever since 10.5 I can see the Media Smart in iTunes, but when I try to browse it I get nothing.

Apparantly Apple has no intention of ever addressing this.

Although my the solution for LG N2R1D is a work around, it was very easy.

I'm stuck with mt-daapd 0.2.4.2. With 10.6 it's working again.

I have to ask a naive question: Has anyone else tried the work-around I did or because I am using a Mac and Airport Extreme in concert with the LG NAS, it is not applicable?

It seems so easy a solution.

OS 10.7.3 and all the latest firmware and software updates on all my devices.

I don't know about Windows home server. I'm using Debian Lenny/mt-daapd 0.2.4.2 server-side and OS X Lion/Tunes 10.6 client-side and it's working.
