win7 x64 can't install iTunes 10.5
Windows 7
Not likely since it is a firmware update, not an iTunes update.
It is an iTunes update. I'm not referring to iOS 5.0.1. The iTunes update is said to do something about iTunes match, but HOPING they fix the installation issue.
Crossing my finger!
Cant' believe all you people, still haveing trouble with this. Disecting your registry, uninstalling, reinstaliing differnet, things, all sort of 3 part software, Windows is a turd, along with alll of its software, always has been, Just wipe it clean and start over again. Worst thing that can happen is you'll lose a few hours of time, and your pc will be running much faster, and use substanially less amount of memory.
Sorry but could not tell from your post what you were talking about and yes, I saw the same iTunes beta info on Apple Insider. Crossing my fingers too.
In case You did not follow this thread, some people lost more than days of lifetime doing precisely those simple steps. Without a result. Re-installing the whole Windows is an option that could help, but I am still somehow refusing to do that...
10.5.1 is out 🙂
Good luck everyone....
middle of installing....
crap...
same error 😟
LoL I had the same optimism and subsequent reaction. 🙂
I'm resisting performing a complete wipe and reinstall of Windows 7 - in part becasue it's time consuming, but also because I have a worry that it won't work. I've tried everything suggested on this thread, and none of it worked. In fact, now I have doubled up music files and missing album artwork.
C'mon iTunes, I love my iPod and the convenience of the iTunes Store. I don't like your customer service. You're losing money right now. I could be buying music and instead, I'm here trying to figure out how to fix what you screwed up.
The real issue here is that no one really knows what the issue is. I have uninstalled 10.4.1, cleaned my system, insured all updates are in place, and then tried to install iTunes 10.5.1 both through the installer and manually. I did this many times to no avail. As a last resort I reinstalled 10.4.1 with no issues. So the problem is absolutely related to 10.5.1.
While installing each program manually I did notice that the issue may be in the Apple Support Program application.
Apple needs to identify what tha actual issue is so we can fix it. I am not willing to keep blindly poking around and modifying a very stable system in the hopes I will accidentally fix the iTunes issue.
If apple or anyone else has a solid answer on the actual issue please speak up. Thanks
Ditto. Also tried repairing or reinstalling C++, .Net Framework, following the whole iTunes uninstall regimen, blah blah blah. I agree - 10.4.1 has always re-installed; as I keep trying new things, my worry is that, aside from the time wasted (and sleep lost), at some point even 10.4.1 will break or maybe I'lll screw something up to the point where other applications (or the op system) will break. It would seem like fixing Apple Mobile Device Support for 10.5 shouldn't be beyond the capabilities of folks that could make the 10.4 version work.
Until I start seeing evidence that somebody else has verified a solution, I'm done. If this keeps up long enough, I'll start looking at Android phones. As it is, no way my kids are getting the iPods they crave for Christmas. I won't buy something I can't use.
Apple is losing sales.
How/where can I get 10.4.1? I've wiped my computer free of all apple programs, including the updater. When I look at itunes downloads at apple, they only offer 10,5.1?

I had to do the same thing after removing everything off my system to get this new itunes to work, Just spent 299 on a new Iphone 4S and i can't run any media on it because i can't install this stupid Itunes update... does anyone know how to roll back this phone to IOS 4.3 so we can atleast make some use of the 4S? Or are we just doomed to wait another month for a fix of some sort to this apple fail.
If you want the official Apple 10.4.1 link go to this thread. It is at the bottom of the page below the 10.5.1 install.
Has anyone looked into Anti Virus causing the issues. The HRESULT: 0x80070005 code usually referes to an ACL issue (Access Denied). Wondering if there is an access issues in the Registry ACLs or in a directory caused by Nortons AV of some corrupted ACLs?
Thoughts?
Nope turned off my AV program and got the same 2 errors again (I'm only running MSE).
