win7 x64 can't install iTunes 10.5
Win7 x64 and havent updated the windows 7 service pack 1
I tried to find the Microsoft.VC80.CRT and uninstall the win32 version, but still iTunes won't allow me to install.
Windows 7
thx so much man! I'm gonna try ur solution before Apple comes out a fix!
Victory! I don't know if this is what did it but, I went through the Uninstall or change programs list and repaired all all of the Apple software I could find. After that, I retried the itunes installer and it worked!
This worked for me also.
During install, the same error documented in this forum will pop up.,

What error are you getting, mine is microsoft.vc80.crt,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publickeytoken="1fc8b3 b9a1e18e3b
When I hit ok, it rolls back the installtion
Third, once the installer has run it's course, I open the Apple Software Update program. Immediately click cancel, then go to Tools >> Open Downloaded Updates Folder.
nope
Fourth, double-click the AppleMobileDeviceSupport64 exe, and let it run it's course. Once again, you will receive the error, but DO NOT click OK. Just leave it be.
Fifth, open up iTunes, plug in your iPad, iPhone, or whatever and reap the benefits of iOS 5!! nope
Once you click OK on the error screen, these folders will automatically delete themselves. I have copied and pasted them on my desktop, in hopes that when I click OK and these folders are deleted, I'll just replace them with the copied folders and all will be good until Apple comes out with a proper fix. Good luck to everyone!
Guys, have u try Unistall all APPLE related software and application such as apple updater, service in Window Uninstaller, Im using ios 5 now using Win7 X64bit Dell 🙂
I tried the suggested work around with no success. It seems everything installed but the mobile device and application support. Now when I try to start itunes I get "The procedure entry point kCMByteStreamNotification_AvailableLengthChanged could not be located in the dynamic link library CoreMedia.dll" The when I click "OK" it tells me "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 127)". This is really frustrating, I have spend at least eight hours trying to figure this out. I need this to work because I depend on my ipad for my work and I have files on the ipad I need to sync to my computer. Now I don't even have iTunes 10.4 to sync to. Apple should have had these issues figured out prior to release. I love the devices and have had not issues until this update! Let's get going support. My new Iphone will arrive and without iTunes I will not be able to use it.
Yup got the same errors after trying the work around, uninstalled everything, now I can't even go back. I got nothing.
Yes, unistalled everything including quick time. What is service in windows installer?
So now what Stewart Little?
I'm trying to install iTunes 10.5 onto my Windows Vista 32-bit PC to get iOS 5. I've been getting the same problems and none of the suggestions here work! Help!
Hi
Finally after 24 hours of uninstalling, reinstalling, rebooting, reconnecting etc. I got iTunes 10.5 installed and my iPhone 4 updated to iOS 5.
I did this:
1. Uninstalled every Apple software from my PC (Windows 7 64 bit).
2. I then cleaned the Win-register using the free sowftare CCleaner (Find it at www.filehippo.com) - it does NOT mes up anything - but cleans all the old junk in the registry that might give you issues when re-installing.
3. Downloaded iTunes from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and installed it.
4. Connected my iPhone 4 and did as it told me to. But beware - it takes ages. And after 3-4 hours my iPhone made a sound and was ready - I thought - but it turned out that I had to login to my iPhone 4, and select the option to reestablish my iPhone from backup on PC. After that and a couple of hours waiting - it finally worked and I could start my iPhone in iOS 5 mode. All my Apps where spread all over the pages in my iPhone. iCloud backup is not working yet - will not connect and there are other issues, but it seems it is up running for now.
So remember - it takes time and prepare to wait for ages....and to do everything more than once...what a joke...
😟
i tried this same method. initially tried updating to itunes 10.5 through 10.4 and then it had the error message.
then tried uninstalling itunes + safari + quicktime, then cleaned the registry, then rebooted and tried to install 10.5.
the thing rolled back and said no. tried numerous times on win 7 x64 without success.
tried it on my notebook win 7 x32 and it installed straight away.
i guess i just have to wait until the bug is fixed.
i could get the ios5 on the notebook but i dont want a situation where i plug it onto the desktop and it fails there ... or if ios5 is incompatible with itunes 10.4. does anyone know if ios5 will work with itunes 10.4?
this happened to me. it finaly worked when i updated using the 'Apple Software Update' program that came with iTunes. check your start menus to see if its there!
btw. if you uninstall iTunes and have trouble installing 10.5, they also have 10.4.1 still available for download:

Thank you, Thank you, was wondering about that, think I will just keep 10.4..1 on untill all the probelms are ironed out.
sad to say, but i tried that as well. got exactly the same message when i tried the itunes route.
when you go trhough the apple software updater route you get a number of files in the download directory. do you click all? i even had the option to repair, which i did, and then in the install, got the same stupid message.
so this makes it my 18th try. i give up.
and reading all the problems others have been experiencing with ios5 (wifi issues, imessage issues, icloud problems), i think i have learnt my lesson and will give this a miss.
i think i was naive to think apple will be reliable for once ... but of course, they are ubiquitously reliably unreliable. so shame on me for hoping.
