win7 x64 can't install iTunes 10.5
Windows 7
Hi All,
I had the " A program required for this install to complete could not be run" error while installing the upgrade to 10.5 itunes by running itunes64setup.exe i downloaded.
I'm running Windows 7 64 bit & itunes 64 bit.
I read through the thread, but didn't want to uninstall all my apple software, so kept playing around.
Opened the Apple software update from the start menu, it came up with an error also.
But, as you open it, click cancel, go to Tools> Open Downloaded updates folder.
Run AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi
Then run the itunes64setup.exe, it now works without the error.
Hope it helps..
I have not had any luck getting Apple Device Support Services to install, even after stripping out all of the install directories, cleaning the registry, too many reboots to count, etc. Amazingly enough, it looks like I at least got 10.4.1 reloaded. I had assumed that after all of the baloney, it would be hosed as well.
I just got my phone to synch to 10.4.1. So at least I can still use it. But 10.5 is no go - I get:
I've tried the various remedies suggested here with no luck. Since iTunes 10.4.1 re-installed, I have to assume it isn't entirely my computer. I guess that I'll have to wait for Apple to fix 10.5.
I get the same error when I try to install on my desktop... I hadn't been able to update windows for a while but after messing around I was able to fix that and update them but I still cant install itunes 10.5 so I decided to restore and update mine and my dads iphone 4s from my laptop which was running 10.5 but it stopped halfway giving me error 1306...Ive tried all the solutions for this and nothing has worked I am using usb 2.o ports as should be and I now have two iphones stuck in recovery (connect to itunes) mode and they don't even show up in itunes anymore.... I did get them to show up randomly doing god knows what only to try to restore allover and get the same error message again (this happened about 2 more times) and now here I still am with 2 bricked iphones...please help
I'm getting the same message, I unistalled all Apple software, updater etc and even itunes (stupidly I fear). I was hopeful when I found a supposed fix on Cnet but without itunes I could not apply it. Luckily I have backed up my Iphone 4 but i'm extremely frustrated. BTW I'm running Windows 7 64-bit on a 1 year old Dell
pls try to install any version of itunes prior or successive to 10.5 for win64, if successful, uninstall it and try again with the install off the itunes 10.5 win64.
pls try also this : http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1567 , restart the apple mobile device service that in my case was not started automatically.
Programmes or changes to start up and registry must be interfering with the normal install of 10.5, for me was rolling back when during the install was configuring the windows firewall, even that was disabled, but managed through installing another version than 10.5, that in order to configure the start up and services (apple) to run normally; after uninstalled it and tried again with the 10.5, that is finally running normally, .... but after two days of trying. "a sterile perfect" environment for the upgrades, ie. itunes 10.5, is not always present on every macchine, but change happens, as new programmes are installed or uninstalled, not always in the most perfect ways.
How to update exclusively apple software update to the latest version kindly explain,!,?
That is the same thing that I'm getting. I relly hope someone figures this out. I have a couple Audio books I want to listen to this weekend.
I am also getting the same Error. I have iTunes 10.4 installed without issue.
I have been trying to fix this for 2 days as well...Apple, please do something.
i get a message saying the publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software
Name:c:/user/Lauren/Downloads/Itunes64stepup.exe
Publisher: Unknown Publisher
Type: Application
From: c:/User/Lauren/Download/Itunes64stepup.exe
So i clicked run and nothing happens i have tired everthing to install Itunes 10.5 what should i do
so i got the messages from all the guys here who have uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled, rebooted, repaired ...et al a number of times.
i did that as well. with no success. each and every time it just rolls back and gives me an error message.
here's the thing: i also tried uninstalling and then just clean installing itunes 10.4 and it installed WITHOUT issue and without the need to repair or do anything else.
which means there is a problem built into 10.5.
so, after wasting at least 20 hours over the last couple of days doing the dating game with 10.5 with installs, reboots, restores, repairs and getting acid reflux, I AM DONE WITH THIS RUBBISH PIECE OF SOFTWARE. no mas.
all i wanted to do was upgrade to ios5, see how it worked and since we have a need for both an extra phone and tablet for the house, buy the 4s and ipad 2.
this whole very unpleasant episode has sickened my apple experience. since i have a samsung 3d tv, i am probably going out and getting the galaxy tab and phone.
unless the apple guys fixed this nonsense and release a working version in the next 2 week (hate to say this, but the odds of that happening is about as high as the congress getting its act together).
I am not able to install itunes as well.. I removed the previous version and tried and still no use.. I jus bought an iphone 4S and I need itunes 10.5 to access it.. Any suggestions so as to make d installer work???
I have spent the last five hours trying to get this ITunes 10.5 working so I can update my iPad and iPhone. I am also running Windows 7 64 bit. I can get it to install but when I go to run iTunes it says "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 5)". I have tried everything uninstalling reinstalling removing everything apple on my system and reinstalling after cleaning up the registry to make sure there was nothing left behind. I've also tried installing with my Internet security disabled and still get the same error. Can we contact apple via email and ask them what is going on?
It appears that no one from Apple is taking much notice. Even if they acknowledged an issue and said they were aware of problems it would help.
Lots of nice shiny iphone 4s will be bought today - I hope they have 10.5 to transfer there files .
