How do I enable multitasking gestures in iOS 5.0 on iPad 1?

"iOS 5 includes a few new moves and shortcuts to help you get around even quicker on your iPad: Using four or five fingers, swipe up to reveal the multitasking bar, pinch to return to the Home screen, and swipe left or right to switch between apps."

How do I enable these gestures? I have upgraded to iOS 5 on my iPad 1 and do not see this setting in the general tab of settings.

I just left feedback.

This boneheaded move reminds me of the string of stupid moves made by Netflix.

Now from some herisy - In the Windows world you can drag down your obsolete gear with software it was never intended to run - the user has the choice.

For Apple do actually include usable code on the iPad 1 code but not enable multitouch gestures - which works perfectly well on the iPad 1 under iOS 5 for those that have jailbroken theirs - feels like a giant "screw you" to an early adopter.

This is the iOS feature I was most looking forward to!

This is a very sad day! Almost eight month I was using the multitouch gestures on my IPad 1 and they worked great! Now that I have updated to iOS5 they're gone. The old method to activate them does not work anymore.

I don't need most of that stupid stuff, which came with the update. I just want those gestures back! There is no reason to remove them! And no: I won't buy an IPad 2 just because of that reason!

If you want to get really made, it's just a simple switch in the config.xml file to change:

"multi-touch = false" to "multi-touch = true", reload the file, reboot the pad and voila multi-touch on an iOS 5 iPad 1! Just furter proof that's there's really no reason not to have this an Apple have decided to directly turn it off, not remove it, just turn it off!

could you please explain this once again for dummies?
