Cannot restore/update iPhone. Internal error iOS5

I'm trying to update from iOS 4.3.5 to iOS5 but when I try to update I recieve an error during the restore process. I think it is an error with verifying the update. User uploaded file

It's a refurbished iPhone. Anyone else having the same issue?

I had 3004 error and was stuck. I think it was a corrupt ios 5 firmware download in my case.

1. Delete IOS 5 firmware from folder ~library/itunes/iphone Software Updates

2. Enter DFU mode ie. http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1034

3. itunes will then re-download the firmware and restore the iphone.

No promises as I pieced this together from several sources but it worked for me. Good Luck.

Someone posted this:

"I just restarted my phone my holding the sleep/wake button and home button at the same time, once the apple logo comes up release the sleep/wake button and keep hold of the home button till the usb cable and itunes come up."

My iPhone is now again known by iTunes. But upgrade doesn'n work anyway. I'll wait untill tomorrow.

For those who don't wish to fool around in the Terminal, the solution for me appeared to be "wait a bit."

I got the same error as everyone else attempting to upgrade my iPhone 4 (running 4.3.5) to iOS 5. After two unsuccessful attempts, I waited an hour on the assumption that heavy server traffic was making the "verification" step unable to complete.

Sure enough, the third time was the charm. I made sure not to engage in any other bandwidth-using activities while the update was being downloaded, and that appears to have solved the problem. I'm now running iOS 5.

It may not solve everyone's problem, but I'm not surprised that a little patience turned out to be the key for me.

Yes. Someone posted a solution that worked for me. I apologize to the poster but I can't remember his/her handle. Hold down the home button and the open close button ( located on the top right) at the same time. When the apple logo reappears, release the open close button, continue holding the home button until the iTunes and sync cable appear. iTunes will now regonize your phone.
