"could not activate iphone" after iOs 5 update..Help?

Well, if apple has done something to brick our jailbroken phones then it is clear intention to cause damage to someone's property. In that case that's breaching the law. If they believe it is ok to do so, then it means it is also ok the hack their servers, and cause same kind of damage to them... What do you say apple?

My iMessage is back. It works now. I think it was the problem with the server or somthing.

yes after disscision they replaced it I had to pay £55 but the phone was well out of waranty and my wife had not looked after it altall so £55 was a fair deal for a brand new one

He did try and say it was not readingthe sim card but this is a well documented problem with ios5

Also, after doing the RS method = install ipad baseband = deactivate, the memory of my 16GB 3GS went down to 8.6GB. What gives? :S

I still keep getting the "Could not activate iPhone" message. I feel so frustrated that Apple didn't even prepare for such a big upgrade for all users. Now I can't use my phone 😟

This happened to me as a Verizon user.. unfortunatelly their system was overloaded and taking some peoples phones up to 24 hours to activate!!!!! After sitting on the phone for 2 hours and probably on hold for 1 hour they finally just told me to wait the 24 hours and call back if it did not activate... about 2-4 hours later it activated on its own. I would just be patient. 😕

Hey Apple, why aren't you guys doing something about this problem? Or maybe it was intended all along to boost your iphone 4s sales? All I know the FTC will get a sniff of this.

I just updated to iOS 5. I decided that I should give the iphone a cleaning and I restored it's original settings. This is when it just decided to not activate. I'm on Verizon so I hope that it will get cleared up by morning. I don't understand what the problem is.

I have the same problem. I updated my phone from 4.3.3 to 5 the other day and now I can't activate my phone via wifi or itunes because it says i need a sim from the carrier. I cannot do anything with my iPhone and I have tried everything. I tried ringing apple but i had no joy. Can anyone help?

I have updated my IPhone 3GS with the new iOS5, everything went fine but when trying to activate it says SIM Card not valid. Yesterday Nov 8th, I took appointment with Apple Store's Genius Bar and was told that my phone is having SIM reader problem and was offered to get a new IPhone 3GS for $150 in return for my old iphone 3GS. I have been loyal to apple for somany years and I really dont think I deserve this. I have IPhone 4 and my wife is using Iphone 3GS and we have two macbook laptops. My wife is without a phone for the past three days. Apple technicians are of no help on this. I have read all the comments on this topic and I feel that we all should report this to consumers court or sue apple as this is not right. We as customers have just updated the iOS and its 100% apples fault, why I am saying this is because I have been using this IPhone 3GS for the past 2yrs without any problem and now when I update to the new iOS I am facing this activation issue.

Apple - If you read this then please take some action or else we are all going take serious action on this.

I am having the same problem ''Could not activate iphone.'' "Your iphone could be activated because the activation server is temporarly unavailable. Try connecting your iphone to itunes to activate it, or try again a couple of minites".

I tried this activating many times but sadly could not succeeded.

You have been eliminated the problem? How?
