I have updated my imac but have not received the verification e-mail for icloud. I have repeatedly clicked on resend email verification. Anyone else have this problem?

Its the funniest thing in the world, you will not get a verification email under the apple ID that you have been using before iCloud. You will be forced to create a new one.

1. Sign in to appleid.apple.com and login in through manage accounts.

2. Change your Primary email address (which will change your apple id)

3. You will receive the verification email.

4. Once Verified remember to log out of itunes and login in under the new apple id, you will not have to enter cc info or billing address it just transfers over. If you dont log out of the old apple id and log in with the new apple id it will give you a forget password error.

Hope that it works for you.

OK, I managed to figure out my problem. Again, this seems to point to what other people have found out - duplicate emails block the verification email from being sent.

I had:

AppleID-1 -- _@gmail.com as PRIMARY email, @otherdomain.com as SECONDARY email

AppleID-2 -- _@otherdomain.com as PRIMARY email <-- this is the account i wanted to use for iCloud

My AppleID-1 account was ancient and frankly I had forgotten about it. I only stumbled onto by accident as I kept typing every email address I've ever have/had (like 7 different ones...) until Apple recognized (or not) them.

I discovered that I had the PRIMARY email address for my preferred account as the backup/SECONDARY email address for my abandoned account. I deleted the backup address, Saved Changes, then logged out.

I then logged back into my preferred account and hit "verify" and poof, the machinery got unjammed and I got the long-awaited iCloud verification email.

Moral of the story: go to https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/ and type in every email address you can think of that you might have used, ever, and then check to see if you have your SECONDARY email on any of those accounts set to the address of your preferred account.

Hope this helps someone. Good luck!

So I got this problem to work. Initially when I tried to setup the iCould account it would get stuck on the verifying loading screen and would just sit there. I did not receive the verification email in my account. What I found was that I had 2 apple id's. An email address AND a username from before Apple started using email addresses as the user id. It was still associated with my account.

I went to appleid.apple.com and found out my old username by using the FORGOT ID button and entered my previous email addresses. I the logged into iTunes with the old username and managed the account. I CHANGED the username to my current email address that I wanted to use. After that iCloud synced perfectly on my phone.

Hope this works for others. Thanks.

OK, my problem was FINALLY resolved by a very capable MobileMe support person. They do not have a direct number to call, but you can submit and online form and they will call you. They called pretty quickly. go to this Apple page to set it up: https://expresslane.apple.com/GetproductgroupList.do?PRKEYS=113560

My problem was not getting a verification email because the email I wanted to use was associated with an old mobileme account that would not let me update it, either in mobileme or throught AppleID. In fact, if I logged into the AppleID site with the old mobileme credentials, it didn't even display the old email.

Fortunately, the mobileme expert was just that, and was able to force the verification email be sent so I could use my preferred icloud account.

Use the link above to put in a mobileme support request. They will call you back, and they are good people.

Now if Siri would only work. All I get is "cannot connect to network." Lame.

Well, I have jogged through the various steps here: no help at all. I did manage to get a verification sent to a NEW email address that I entered as a secondary address; that worked fine. But the PRIMARY email address (which happens to be my primary @gmail.com address) will not sent for anything.

I went through the whole BS of "iforgot" and it simply made me create a stronger password (I feel SO much more secure now... right...) but it still will not send a verification to me; however, I was pleased to see that it sent me an automatic "You've changed your password notice"! Ke-rist... Apple... Jobs is turning over in his grave.

Just found that even after I deleted the Alternate Email address from my @me.com account (which also happened to be the Apple ID of the account I want to use for iCloud, the one with all my purchased Apps and Music), it was NOT removed from the MobileMe account personal info page. I even tried to enter a new alternate Email to see if it would catch - no luck.

Decided then to leave the MobileMe alone, don't really need it, so I logged the Mac, Time Capsule etc. away from it. RIP MobileMe.

Solution:

I created a third - brand new never seen before - Email address on my domain, entered that as the new Apple ID on the account I want to use for iCloud. THEN the verification Email arrives at once! Now I have one Apple ID for all, took only 3-4 hours to figure it out. Anyone knows Apple's billing address ;-)

Remember to use an Email address for the new one that, if possible, can be forwarded to your normal Email inbox. Also remember that iTunes login must be changed.

The problem as it originally existed was solved for me with this fix from Rob. THANK YOU! I had 2 Apple IDs - one had an email address extension, one did not. When accessing Manage My Account on appleid.apple.com, I saw the message "make my email and apple ID the same" but it wouldn't let me do it. It also said that my email had already been verified. It displayed a secondary email that was the same as my primary email. I deleted that email, but nothing happened. Then I changed the email on one of my Apple IDs. Viola! I was able to make my Apple ID the same as my primary email.

Now, here's what's happening. I received my verification email and responded. I received "account verified" message. I was still unable to log in to iCloud on my MBP until I logged ouwt of iCloud and logged in again. This worked. However, I am not able to get in to iCloud on my iPad or iPhone. When I try to verify, it says, this account is already verified. When I try to set up iCloud, it says "account not verified." There doesn't appear to be any way to actually log out on these devices. I completely shut them down, but that didn't work. Any ideas?
