iOS 5 Upgrade Bricked My iPhone 4 (Stuck in Recovery Mode)

I, like many others, kept getting "An internal error occurred" when trying to upgrade my iPhone 4 to iOS 5. Foolishly, I continued to hit the Update button and try again. It eventually led to my iPhone being in recovery mode. I am now unable to restore the phone due to the ongoing issues with Apple's servers and unable to use the phone because the failed upgrade process placed the phone in recovery mode.

tried to get the installation pack offline, it just said that there was an internal error blah blah....finally succummed & hit the restore button. it wiped everything & installing ios5. hoping that this wouldn't time out as the previous 2 attempts did. it's really frustrating. oh well, waiting for het another 5 hours & hoping that it completes the cycle... *sigh*

I decided to update my iPod 3G first, and it has been stuck in recovery for nearly a day. I've tried everything suggested in this thread and also everything on these Apple support pages:

http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1275

http://support.apple.com/kb/ta38603

Nothing has helped. Even tried restoring from two other PCs, tried using different cables, tried every USB port on all of those computers, all computers are up to date, etc etc etc... Getting errors 6 and 1603. I'm glad I did it with the iPod first as it only had audio and when/if I get it running again it will be an easy restore. iOS 5 is not getting near the other devices in my household.

Has anyone successfully restored a device that didn't respond to DFU restore?

bradkaos is an idiot. Let me know what they say cTigerC, I'm in the same boat. I'll probably give them a call today. Maybe we should start a new thread because the title on this one is misleading. Not all the devices are made in the same factory so it is possible only the ones made with a certain parts is causing the problems. Like said before update went fine for me but phone reboots constantly. My crash report in the settings\about\diagnostic & usage\diagnostic & usage data:

Incident Identifier: E26789E9-2A5A-492D-9CC5-

Reset count: 1
Boot failure count: 0
Boot faults:
Boot stage: 0
Boot app: 0

-this is a consant crash report that is generated from the rebooting.

There are thousands of people trying to download IOS5 and alot of them are having problems Apple doesn't have enough people to help everyone. Give them some time.

If all of you REALLY NEEDED your iPhone or iPod you should of stayed with the older version for a few days untill the demand was down for getting IOS5.

Thanks Kiki Tay. Will try.

bradkaos: I call you and idiot because your not helping anyone with your workaround solutions by repeating what's been written now in this thread at least a dozen times. If you don't have any new relevent information then why post? No one is hiding behind a computer, this is a forum for everyone so everyone is behind their computer but please report your lemons as you please.

OK, so I'm back from the Apple Store and wouldn't you know it went all the way through the restore the first time the Apple tech tried (after something like 50 tries myselff over the past couple days and it always failing at the exact same point - restoring iPhone firmware). As soon as I got home and plugged it in, it began to restore everything and is currently restoring my apps. The good news (I guess) is that they never asked or checked to see whether I was covered by Applecare or mentioned anything about a fee for the service.
