if its looping, then hold top and home button down until it goes dark.

then plug in the usb lead whilst holding the home button - you will then get the white apple logo, keep holding untill you get the usb into iTunes pic, this will set it into restore mode

After a couple hours of trying to upgrade - it looks like it's finally working.

I did hardwire my Mac directly into my router, disconnected everything except keyboard and iPhone, and rebooted several times.

Same here. Keep trying. For me, 3rd time was the charm.

To stop your iphone looping, it must be plugged in to a pc with i tunes itunes open.

Then hold down power and home button for about 15 seconds or more untill the itunes sync icon appears on your phone.

That said mine is still bricked at the moment and im ****** off!!

Try holding down both the power and menu bottoms at the same time until it reboots or better still, wait for the servers to free up a bit. Hope this helps.

if using a mac, have to do from command

quit itunes

dscacheutil -flushcache

That's crazy. You shouldn't have to think twice about an upgrade from the oh-so-cool-and-clever Apple guys.This is completely unacceptable on the part of Apple, so let's not get all forgiving and dewy-eyed about it. Apple have very badly screwed up here.

Run software update THEN update phone. Thanks Apple for letting it happen in any other order

Mine also. It keeps just restarting, and restarting...Thanks Apple! Kindly fix this problem! Steve Jobs will be turning in his grave at your idiocy!
