iOS 5 Upgrade Bricked My iPhone 4 (Stuck in Recovery Mode)

I have the same problem.

Did you solve the problem yet... I have the same one. Can't see it in itunes now...

If your iPhone or iPad is bricked, google and download RecBoot. It will force your device out of recovery. Then wait a little while until the demand on servers calms down a bit before attempting to update again.

RecBoot works every time.

Mine's doing the infinte reboot too.... ugh!

dont you get it people. Apple want to sell iPhone 4S. They did not come up with new design phone, and now they try to **** us off to update and buy 4S

Just dont update and pre-order 4S 🙂 so far easiest way

A guy already posted this but it worked, phone has been in recovery mode for HOURS!!

OK ensure iphone is unplugged from computer. Hold down home button and off button until it goes dark, then plug back in holding the holding the home button and usb screen should appear.

Have just tried to restore and it is still saying error 3014, one problem solved another left wide open!! Ridic!!

Update window warns it may take up to an hour. Recovery mode took me about 15-20 min of the little infinite looping circle updating apps if i remember correctly, then it went onto music etc so unless you're certain it's bricked, maybe just give it a while. Took me almost 45 minutes to do 1 phone - successful, now almost done with number 2! Patience. Sometimes it doesn't appear in itunes for a couple minutes, patience....

Oh and I also had error 3014, just rebooted computer reattached phone and waaalaaa.....

Note: If you receive the “The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (3004).” error, make sure to quit iTunes and flush caches at the command line:

sudo dscacheutil -flushcache

and it worked.

After I tried to update to iOS5 my phone entered into an infinite reboot mode. It just cylces and cycles over and over again. I can't even turn it off. I have tried everything I can think of (including holding both the Power and Home buttons, etc.)...

Now I have no phone... like many others here.

I had some similar problems. I needed to download the update via iTunes and not a separate ISPW file.

I did that, but I'm still borked.

I tried around 5 times and it finally worked on the fifth try. It's probably going to be like this the whole day.

I had this same problem, but I just kept trying and eventually it worked. Hang in there!
