No iCloud on Snow Leopard? THIS IS A JOKE, APPLE!

Right now I'm thinking about leaving Apple products behind for good. So I can't use iCloud on Snow Leopard (which is not that old)? Meaning my syncing (contacts, bookmarks, calendars etc.) will just stop when they shut down MobileMe in 2012?

GREAT WAY TO DEAL WITH YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS, APPLE!

I can't update to Lion (various reasons). So now what? Dump the crap Macbook+iMac+iPhone in the toilet? Should be a great idea!

VERY PROFESSIONAL, CONGRATULATIONS!

How many people will go Windows for their next computer, as many are threatening to do.

For our main computers we are sticking with Macs.

But for secondary laptops, whose needs are usually filled by our old Mac laptops, we plan on switching to Windows laptops if this mess doesn't improve. The reason is the cheapest Macbooks run around 1K and you can get a cheap Windows laptop for around $250.

I may as well chime in too. I have a MacBook and MacBook Pro 1,1. Both Core Duo of course. So no Lion for me and no iCloud. Unless I buy a new Mac. Now the MacBook Pro has a defect, so I may just do that. But I dont like being forced to upgrade perfectly good hardware.

I too was there from the start. My @.mac e-mail adress was simple and needed no numbers to find one that fit. Back then iTools was free. Then when they started charging I reluctantly started paying.

Hi,

Jan 2000? So that's eleven years to get it right, but it's getting worse!

And thanks for pointing out the original name - Fourth name now. You can tell when a product is bad - their marketing department keeps changing the name and relaunching it!!

As opposed to Ford calling the same old crap a Mustang for 25 years?

You are not forced to do anything at all, stay with Snow leopard, it's excellent, Leopard is also very good, the desire to have the latest (Lion) is just that, a desire.

Best, Martin

Nobody stops you from abandoning Apple products, if that's what makes you feel more happy. But "threatening" of doing so , just out of frustration is a sign of extreme lack of self control. As if Apple would stop you from doing so. You must be naive.

Your Answer is naive.

People have more power in numbers than you think.

Afterall...we saved Netflix from making a REALLY HUGE BIG stupid and terrible mistake for their customers. We stopped them from splitting their Streaming and DVD into two websites making it better for the consumer and the shareholder.

This was accomplished by dropping almost a million subscribers and making enough stink about it that their stock plumetted.

That's how you make change!

Meanwhile the rest of us professionals who have clients...demand we use certain versions of Office because THEIR offices don't upgrade. They demand we be compatible with their programs.

Same here and it isn't just Office software.

While I love having the latest everything reality is that I need to run software in versions that my clients use which more often than not is a few version old or even discontinued software.

Starting with Lion and now with iCloud Macs no longer "just work" and also no longer play well with others. 😟

Yeah..I'm tired of people just upgrading because they think it's BETTER without researching or asking questions before they do.

They don't know that they are part of a "planned obsolescence" concept has been around since the late 70s.

That's why I use older household products..(vacuum, blenders, marantz receiver, speakers from 1981 - you know..stuff you can pass off to the next generation and yet retain it's value)...because back in the day up till the 70s..they HAD to LAST....it's what consumers demanded. My fridge is only 6 years old and it's dying...and it's an ELECTROLUX. A fridge is supposed to last 20 years with almost NO maintenance..same with washer's and dryers! Why do you think some of this stuff is going for hefty prices on eBay?

I remember back in 1983 the marketing term phrased ...."Stay one step ahead of planned obsolescence...."
