No iCloud on Snow Leopard? THIS IS A JOKE, APPLE!

Right now I'm thinking about leaving Apple products behind for good. So I can't use iCloud on Snow Leopard (which is not that old)? Meaning my syncing (contacts, bookmarks, calendars etc.) will just stop when they shut down MobileMe in 2012?

GREAT WAY TO DEAL WITH YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS, APPLE!

I can't update to Lion (various reasons). So now what? Dump the crap Macbook+iMac+iPhone in the toilet? Should be a great idea!

VERY PROFESSIONAL, CONGRATULATIONS!

Can either of you point me to the information that says Apple will not make Snow Leopard compatible with iCloud at some point in the future?

I'm very annoyed too (huge understatement), if I want to upgrade to Lion I have to upgrade Adobe CS also. Don't have the money now.

But it will work on my old crappy Vista PC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is that ridiculous or what?

Apple is p****** on its loyal customers.

AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!

If you have CS3, 4 or 5 you will not have to upgrade, so, do you have $30 and change?

The thing is if you watched their keynote that was released on the 4th they actually told you it would only work for people who had ios 5 and osx lion

No-one on here has access to information proving that Apple will not make Snow Leopard compatible with iCloud, or indeed that it will. Apple don't tell us their future plans.

And that would be why I asked where the information was coming from, I already know that it is BS.

Seriously you guys? New features are new features. You can't expect any company to make every new product completely backwards compatible forever. (Should GM give you OnStar for your 95 Corsica as a free upgrade?) That product would turn into crappy, bloated code really fast. Rosetta and Carbon had to go away eventually, every developer knew it and should have planned for it, or OSX would never truly improve and get better. Apple isn't alienating you, they are moving on by necessity, and your old-school clear iMac or whatever you have that you can't upgrade for whatever reason won't magically stop working tomorrow.

You can setup your @me.com email to work with most ANY mail client on Windows, Linux or even an Android phone. You can also sync contacts to most clients as well. 10 minutes on Google will get you the answers. Its all standards based. I'm still running Pro Tools in SL and will for a while. Its perfectly stable and I make my living with it, so there is no way I'm going to upgrade until the new version of PT is ready and I can trust it.

If photo stream/iCloud were not backwards compatible at all, that would be one thing. I think what has people annoyed is that Apple made it backwards compatible for users of much older Windows operating systems, but not for Apple's own snow leopard customers. Like many others here, I would gladly solve the problem by upgrading to Lion, but my older Mac won't run Lion. Maybe 10.6.9 is coming but just wasn't ready yet. Apple is pushing out a lot of new software in a short period of time. I'm hopeful that we'll see 10.6.9 with iCloud support, including photo stream, after the current upgrade frenzy has cooled. Apple has always been good to its customers, and I find it hard to believe that they will leave us hanging. Give it a month.

No iCloud support for Snow Leopard... It's disgraceful - end of story!

Apple appear to have dumped those Snow Leopard users who, like me, are stuck on it due to hefty early investments in an iMac and MacBook Pro! Let alone, iPhone and iPad.

Furthermore, to add insult to injury, many of us have forked out 100s of dollars in MobileMe family membership fees over the past few years.

As of now, I have no over-air sync for Contacts & Notes between my iMac or MacBook Pro and my iPhone and iPad. Fortunately I discovered the CalDAV workaround for iCal so, at least, my diary is ok.

25 years of using Macs and this is the worst they've done.
