No iCloud on Snow Leopard? THIS IS A JOKE, APPLE!

Right now I'm thinking about leaving Apple products behind for good. So I can't use iCloud on Snow Leopard (which is not that old)? Meaning my syncing (contacts, bookmarks, calendars etc.) will just stop when they shut down MobileMe in 2012?

GREAT WAY TO DEAL WITH YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS, APPLE!

I can't update to Lion (various reasons). So now what? Dump the crap Macbook+iMac+iPhone in the toilet? Should be a great idea!

VERY PROFESSIONAL, CONGRATULATIONS!

Guys calm down. I spoke to a guy from Apple the other day and he assured me that the know how important people's iDisk's are and that they can't do without them and that by the time Mobileme is switched off, iDisk or a similar feature will be available on iCloud. In the meantime, iDisk and Gallery are still operational in Mobileme at the same time as the other features are working in iCloud.

I agree the Cloud is not the most brilliant facility at the moment but they are still developing it's features and it will improve.

Yeah just $30 for Lion, plus tens of thousands for newer Macs, thousands more for software upgrades and even then we won't be able to run some needed software due to the loss of Rosetta.

So what ? Apple lives on selling Hardware and Software and Adobe,Microsoft,Autocad,Smith Micro, etc want to sell Software. This is a ongoing ecosystem. Want a new OS ? Buy new Hard AND Software.

You complain about Lion. What shall users of Leopard on PPC say ? They sit on well working machines that will never ever run a OS newer than that. Need also new machines to join the club.

Living with Rosetta ? Everybody knew it was going away. Same as "Classic" in Snow Leopard.

Don't have the money ? Then wanting the latest and greatest in technology is not for you. Brutal but Simple.

If you feel frustrated with Apple and with my answers that say you need a replacement for Mobile because you can't use iCloud without Lion, then tell Apple and not go against me.

The discontinue of MobileMe has been anounced early enough to all MM Users by Apple, so how did Apple not "warned" you ? You knew that your machine can't run Lion and you knew that without Lion there is no iCloud. Why did you not used the time already to search for replacements for MobileMe ? Why did you not bought a Lion capable machine if you are so badly need icloud and do not want replacement services in Snow ?

The thing is, why did you migrate in the first place without Lion?

The first thing it says on the instructions is "Make sure your Mac is running the latest version of Lion" http://www.apple.com/uk/icloud/setup/mac.html

If you'd stayed with MobileMe until it is closed down next year you'd probably have found that by then they'll have sorted out these issues and you wouldn't have any problems at all, or at least you could have looked around for a different synching system.

I can see you're very frustrated.

Contact MobileMe support express lane https://expresslane.apple.com/GetproductgroupList.do?PRKEYS=113560,133314&locale =en_GB I'm hoping I've inserted a link to that now but if not, go the apple.co.uk, support, then sspport site map, look downnear the bottom on the right and you'll see mobileme. Explain that you've migrated when you shouldn't have done as you don't have Lion and ask them to reset your MobileMe a/c at the server. Then you should be back where you were and you can see what happens in the coming months and decide if you'll be able to use the iCloud nearer the cut off time.

I hope this helps.

You're welcome Mike.

I was in an Apple Store today. Unfortunately, they do not know (or would not say) of any CardDAV server details to use for Contacts/Address Book. In fact, they were not even aware of the CalDAV facility that I (and you) use and posted here. When I asked about a 10.6.9 release they said that they haven't heard yet but to continue to post requests on the feedback site, which I thought was an interesting response.

Finally, Sjazbec , no more posts here, huh? You have not given one iota of assistance in this thread as far as I can see. Moreover, you have irritated many people who know far more about Apple products than you.

Many of us are running businesses with tens of thousands of dollars/pounds/euros of investment. Our anger is over Apple's withdrawal of facilities that they sold us and not because we don't have the 'new toys'.
