How do change the playback speed in iOS 5 for podcasts on iPad 2?

I have an original iPad (32GB WiFi only) that has exactly the same problem.

Also NO playback speed controls on my iPad 1gen, I looked everywere.

Yup. Me too. Exactly same issue. Hope speed control missing was just a oopsie because I LOVE that feature

it appears that this feature is missing for Podcasts. its still present on the iPhone. totally inconsistant behavior on Apple's part. I will be leaving feedback here http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

I love the feature, but like the original poster, i'm also stuck with having all my podcast playing 1/2 speed, painful !

I have the same issue on my 1st gen iPad. A workaround I've found (for now) is an app called SpeedUp Player. It is by no means perfect, but it does the job for me.

This application crashed on me a couple of times :-( and i have to listen thru it, thanks but i hope i wont have to use this a long time.

Same issue when I just updated my iPad 2 to iOS 5. Stuck at half-speed playback and no way to change it. A really bad oversight.

This is awful. I'm stuck at listening to everything half speed.

anybody checked if this behavior is also lacking in audiobooks? use to work the same way as podcast.

Yes, it's exactly the same with audio books.

Thanks, so that's really serious now. You purchased a audiobook and now you have to listen to it in a cripled way? not fun!

There is a paid version of the app that lets you run it in the background, but I appreciate not everyone wants to pay a few $ for the privilidge of getting a popular feature back.

How do we get Apples attention to fix this?

Please stop taking away features in new updates, Apple. hiding the podcasts in a menu that users are not allowed to rearrange (like they can on the iPod/iPhone) and taking away the speed feature, forcing all podcasts and audiobooks to play at half speed? Really, Apple?
