iphone 4+iOS 5: volume issue when using bluetooth carkit (VW passat '11)

It's still not working for me unfortunately. I suspect it won't be top of Apples priority list given that it will be a relatively small number of users impacted. **** annoying for those of us who are though.

Hi folks this is a Volkswagen/Seat/Skoda problem!!!!!!!

It does not happen with my 3GS or 4s both OS 5.01 when I use the radio only.

Switch on the media ie sd card or mp3 disc and when you stop the car and get out your ringer volume will be set to ZERO

Ive just been to my local vw dealer, they did not have any updates for the kit, and guess what, blamed the phone

You have a very poor dealer, mine Safa Motors Fungarola, Spain. Told me exactly what they would do to solve the problem and in English.

1. We will check the system for any faults.

2. Contact VW to check for service updates and if no updates they are going to talk to VW technical to find a saloution.

This may be a more professional dealership!

5.0.1 definitely has not solved my problem - zero volume - flaky connection when playing music - the track timers all screwed up.

But I have noticed when the connection isn't right if I turn off bluetooth on the phone, then turn it back on again it's a better connection and plays music at full volume.

It doesn't solve the timer issue but I don't much care about that....

I am the dealer for some other issue and they are telling me that there is software update for rns 315...ill get it next week...takes about an hour...

Ditto - I am having the same problem on my 2009 GTI - I thought that turning off Siri fixed the problem but it doesn't. I have upgraded to iOS 5.0.1 and still no permanent fix. The problem is intermittent. I have reported it to Apple and I think everyone else having this problem should do the same.

When you report this issue Apple support seem to be saying we have to get the VW sat nav software and bluetooth firmware upgraded to the latest version and before they'll look at this properly.

Just a tip for those of you in the UK with VWs and Audis who are having this kind of issue - if you want your VW/Audi manufacturer fitted sat navs updated to the latest software (to see if it helps, it didn't work for me) try this website:

They did the upgrades on my VW Golf GTI (with RNS 510) as well as some other work, they are ex. VW technicians and are very good, more knowledgeable than the local dealers about the VW/Audi sat navs and bluetooth (they seem to specialise in this and do work for some of the VW dealers) and they are much cheaper too.

I have an iPhone 4 and upgarded to IOS 5.0.1 last night. Now my car bluetooth does not even recognise the phone.

Had intermittent problems with IOS 5, so thought the upgarde would solve the problem. Have a 2010 VW 2.0 Bi TDI Transporter.

Hi, Without looking at all the replys it looks like the sam issue i am having but not with a VW or Audi.

I use my phone in the car (2011 Toyota Hilux SR) for calles only via bluetooth. I also have the issue where the vollume goes all the way to nothing but not only when i connect it to the car. It seems to happen whenever i have bluetooth enabled on the phone regardles of its connection status.

I can go to bed with the phone at full volume and wake up and its back to nothing.

The only way i have found to stop the issue is to turn bluetooth off on the phone.

So? is there an update yet?

Have the same issue here - Subaru Forester 2011, built in bluetooth... When it connects it sets the ringer to zero so I need to keep changing it. Very annoying as I frequent stop/start the car so if I don't re-adjust the ringer, I miss calls.

This is not a VW-only problem. I seem to have exactly the same problem on my Toyota Auris. Will try the 5.0.1 update

I do have the same problem with my Tiguan November 2012. What is the answer of apple? I have tha lates firmeware on my RNS 315 and it worked fine with ios 4. Right after the update to ios 5 (5.0.1) the mass started.

This is not a proper solution because VW is using A2DP-audio streaming standard. Please help!

It seems to be a Software Problem.

While using the iPhone 4 with headphones it decreases the volume to zero.

Same behaviour with activated Bluetooth and a connection to a (certified) car-stereo-system.

When the iPhone is connected with USB to the same radio its working flawless.

The ringtone sets automatically to zero - no matter if the iPhone is connected with Bluetooth or not.

I am using a iPhone 4 with iOS 5.0.1 connected to a JVC device.
