iphone 4+iOS 5: volume issue when using bluetooth carkit (VW passat '11)

hi

i searched all over the net and i didnt find any record of my problem.

i got the iphone 4. it used to run 4.3.3 it worked perfectly. even with my newly VW passat with the RSN310

since i installed ios 5 i found improvements(display wise) but a few downsiders (very annoying ones)

whenever my phone connects with my car, my ringer sound & music sound goes flatlined. (all the way down to nearly mute)
settings > sounds

&

music (airplay)

now if i want to stream my music trough the speakers i dont hear anything unless i raise the volume to MAX and its like a mouse sound. (barely hearable)

(to stream music, i just press MEDIA on my car dash board)

in order to correctly play and hear incomming calls i have to do the following:

wait for phone to connect, then go settings > sounds, raise ringer volume (for incomming calls), then go to music, raise the volume and only THEN i may press Media on my car dashboard to play music & hear incomming calls.

quite some process compared to what used to work fine 3 days ago (even taking into considerations that my RSN 310 didnt display the song info back then, but with ios5 is gives me artis, albmum & song tittle.)

Never worked for me. I did this to make sure somehow my kids (or I) weren't turning the volume down. Even with that changed, the volume would go down. This makes no sense. For those who say it's a VW problem - IT IS NOT. Read the posts - numerous other cars have the problem. Mine is a Yukon XL. Most of the time if I just hit the "volume up" button on my phone, I can get Bluetooth sound. Sometimes, though, the volume never moves up enough where I can hear anything. It's very aggravating.

sadly enough no. some ppl filed a bug complaint but no fix whatsoever.i even fear that apple doesnt care about it.

there is a link in this discussion where you can submit the bug report.

i can advise you do the same, and perhaps when we get enough.... they might pay some attention to it.

i think they are to busy fighting competitors using pattents. all i can read is that lately. court here, judge there and so on.

pitty cause it REALLY worked well PRE 5,0

I have not noticed the ringer volume issue when I connect to my 2012 Passat, but where my issue is, when I connect using bluetooth, the volume on my radio will go from a normal level (listing to the radio, satellite or CD) to a VERY loud volume while playing music (via bluetooth) from my iPhone.

Am I doing something wrong (having a wrong setting) or is this part of the bug that everyone is seeing with the ringer volume issue?

Thanks

Hi all

I have been frustrated for some time now with the same problems as all of you are having. As instructed, I have completed the feedback section with the following comments...

I have the iPhone 4 with the iOS5.0.1 software installed. Since updating the software on the phone, I have had the following problems with the volume:

1. Very often, after unlocking my phone after a period of time, the volume is down to the lowest setting after it had been locked at the highest volume setting.

2. When connecting my phone (via Bluetooth Airplay) to play music through my car (Audi A1) stereo, the volume again goes down to the lowest setting after it had been at the highest, therefor, no music can be heard. I have to turn the volume up on my phone again before I can hear the music.

The same sort of problem goes for my new iPod Touch, again with iOS5.0.1 installed:

When connecting to my car stereo to play music, it either:

1. Plays fine.

2. Puts the volume down to the lowest setting, meaning I have to turn the volume up on the iPod before I can hear music.

3. Keeps the volume of the iPod as it was, but plays very quiet out the car speakers, meaning that turning the volume of the car speakers up to full still only gives a limited sound out.

My iPod was bought with iOS5 pre-installed, so I've always had these problems. However, my iPhone was fine before the iOS5 update.

I've seen that many other users are having the same troubles. It appears to be a problem with the iOS software. Please can you engineer a resolution for the customers who spend lots of money on these devices?

I have noticed some other threads with people discussion the same issues. Hopefully Apple will eventually take notice and get it sorted!

Great news everyone!!! I installed iOS 5.1 beta on my iPhone 4 and the volume Bluetooth problem is gone!!!

For most unless you are in the Apple iOS developer program you won't be able to install it yet but once it's released the problem should be fixed.

Something to note.. I did have to turn the volume up once after it connected to my 2012 VW GTI. Since then it has stayed where I put it and I couldn't be happier.

Not happy with how long it took to get resolved but nonetheless happy it is resolved. Let just hope it stays resolved when it goes public.
