iPhone 4S screen tint

Got a new iPhone 4S this morning, and when I put it next to my old iPhone 4 I discovered the screen was much 'nicer' on the old iPhone. When I say nicer, its kind of got a really yellow tint to the screen on the 4S, whites are where you notice it the most for example the email looks far nicer on the iPhone 4 screen. All other colours look quite washed out. Anyone else got this problem?

Italy here , got my 4s 32gb and the screen is **** **** **** yellow. Compared to my 32gb 4 the 4s just SUCK ! I am very disappointed with Apple cause they should not even put a thing like that on the market.I spent 779 EURO ! ! ! to buy a phone with a yellow display looking worse than every other phone on the market.I hope Apple will change every yellow-screen phone with a new one. That's not something an Apple's customer (i got the 3g / 3gs /4 / 4s) will accept.I buy Apple cause i want PERFECT QUALITY PERFECT SERVICE. If this is what Apple is goin to sell for the future...there is one customer less for u.

Thanks.

as customers, i believe we have the right to be fully satisfied with the products that we purchase. obviously the problem doesn't happen to only one person so just because you don't have the same issue or you don't mind it, doesn't mean others are wrong to care about it. It's Apple's job to make us happy with our phones so that means replacing them until we get a flawless unit. I'm not going to be stuck with a phone that has a LQ display because I'm worried about wasting someone else's time and money. Who even does that? They must be really selfless 😉

Accusing me of affiliated with Apple, huh?

I think you're really obsessed with this screen thing, have no patient, no knowledge in technology - just ignorant and mentally ********.

Just because I feel pity for your ignorance, here's some information you can dump in your brain: 3Gs used TN penel while 4 and 4s used a totally different kind. It's just not right to compare 4s with 3Gs.

Also, am I the only one experienced this? No.

This guy was complaining badly a few weeks ago, and if you play his video, on the top left corner you'll see that he wrote it got resolved in two days.

It is your brain that's defective turbo95eg6.

Was I obsessed with this issue? Yes of course, was it not clear that a great population of iPhone owners were bothered by this problem? The complaints were mainly dude to the fact that we as consumers did not want to believe Apple lacked consistencly in their products. I'm not sure what a "TN penel" is, so I'll overlook your ramblings.

Thanks for posting a video that only validated my point. I'm sorry that you believe this issue will resolve after two days, in result of a youtube video with some text written in a tiny box in the top left corner.

Please do better next time when trying to prove a point, better yet please don't post in this discussion unless you have been affected by this issue.

Of course you should be happy and satisfied. If you're confident there's an issue with your iPhone, as I said, take it back, by all means. But if you let other people's supposed issues make you think you have an issue that's really just a matter of acclimation or break in, going back to the store over and over insisting that a normal color is off-tint, then you're wasting your time and other people's money. I don't call it selfless, just common sense.

if someone is unhappy with their phone, i wouldnt assume that theyre just making something out of nothing. of course i have an iphone 4 available to compare my phone to so the difference was obvious. i noticed it before i even put it next to the 4. i went back to the store today and showed it to my Genius, he even took out his iPhone 4 to compare. We went to look a the 4S on display and some had normal displays, some were washed out. When i say normal i dont mean whether the colors are cool or warm, but im talking about the contrast and the clarity. The unit I had looked like there was smoke on the screen and someone used Photoshop to desaturate everything. He brought out the 4S i had on reserve and we turned it on. Colors are slightly cooler, more neutral. BUT the display was fine, there was no fog covering it and everything was crisp. Genius was glad and so was I. I took a look at the serial code and it's different than the one i had before. The "bad" one started with C39 if anyone cares. The only thing you should worry about is wasting your time but if it's worth it to you then do it because you SHOULD be happy with your phone.

Yep i have the same problem. I upgraded from the 4 to the 4s.

The iPhone 4 screen looks tons better. The 4s is not as pleasing on the eye.

I ordered my 4s at launch and once i had received delivery it was so noticable i phoned apple support just for some advice. They did advise me to reset the phone and if it still persisted then to book an appoinment at the Genius bar which i did the following day.

At the apple store they did advise it was the glue and if the problems still persisted after a week of full brightness, then i should return it to them for an exchange.

Its now been a fortnight and after comparing it with several other handsets its off back to o2 in exchange for a white handset. Fingers crossed the new one will be cool colour temp apposed to the not so nice warm colour temp.

i was just at the apple store exchanging my yellow tinted iphone 4s and ive seen couple of display models with the yellow tint. so this 'glue' drying thing, i dont think thats the case cause those models been there since the launch day and its been several weeks since then. i remember my 3gs having the same problem and i've had it for over a year and it never went away..

According to Anandtech apple added more screen vendors to their suppily chain. The lower contrast ratio on the 4S explains what we are all complaining about. Apple really missed up doing this going below 800:1 contrast takes an amazing screen on the 4 and lessions it on the 4S. I purchased a white 4s on lauch day at the sprint store and it had a yellowish tint when viewing the screen from the left. It made my colors looked washed out. I waited for 13 days before going back to sprint to have it swapped. My sister has the white 16gb 4s and her serial # starts with C39. Her screen is beautiful. My original 4s serial # started with DNP. My device was swapped for another with serial #DNP and it looks great. I can tell the difference in the screen and colors are more vibrant. So I'm not sure that the problem is limited to serial numbers beginning with DNP.

does anyone have this yellow tint that got it from the apple store? it seems like the ones from the carrier have good screens and the ones from apple dont? i've bought my 3gs and 4 from rogers (canada) and they both had good screens til i had some hardware problems with them and exchanged it at the apple store. i've got my 4S from rogers in the first place but i've returned it because i decided not to resign my contract and extend it for another 3 years and bought one from the apple store which had the yellow tint... it would be good to know if anyone that purchased one from the apple store has good screen

it's almost impossible to exchange for another one now. at least in my area anyway, because you have to reserve the phone the night before and currently they're unavailable. i already swapped for a new one but after several days the screen became washed out again and without the proper contrast it's very hard on my eyes when im reading text or looking at pictures. yes the quality of picture viewing is decreased.
