Figured I would share my story as well.
Phone #1 - Bought 4S in October - had yellow screen tint, brought back to store and the replacment phone they exchanged it for had the good screen - blue tint, whites were white (phone #2).
Phone #2 - The phone had mute issues, which there is a whole thread about on this forum as well. About 20-30% of my incoming and outgoing calls people couldn't hear me, but I could hear them. Only way to correct was to restart phone or press speaker button to engage conversation. I returned phone for 3rd phone, but was very worried about getting another yellow screen.
Phone #3 - My concerns were valid as this phone had a yellow screen, not as bad as phone #1, but still annoying and deomoralizing since my phone #2 had the great screen. In addition to the yellow screen, this phone had severe battery problems. Would drain from 50% to dead overnight (with no apps running, etc). Once again, brought into store and swapped for another phone.
Phone #4 - This was by far the worst yellow of the phones I had. It worked fine, but the screen was hideous. I was quite demoralized at this point and decided to take drastic measures. I contacted a third party repair place and explained to them that I'd like to buy a new screen (glass/lcd/digitizer) and have them swap it out on this phone. Only thing was I told them I want to go through all the screens they have to make sure it has the proper blue tint. Shockinly enough, the guy showed me a dozen screens and none of them were acceptable, wherever his supply was coming from had the yellowish screen. Off to the Apple Store for one more attempt.
Phone #5 - Explained my situation to the genius guy (very nice guy), he said he would only open one phone for me to see, and then I could either keep my phone #4 or take the new one. After a deep breath, phone #5 was opened and looked excellent, perfect blue and white screen, no yellow tint. So after weeks of dealing with this, I have a solid phone with a proper screen - RELIEF.
Some people reading this (and my friends have chimed in) may think I'm nuts. But the fact is there are those of us who are not ignorant tech users, and for the money we spend and the time I waited to get this phone, I want it to look the way I want it to look.
Good luck to all who have this problem, this is a very annoying and enraging thing to deal with, as it is literally dumb luck as to what kind of screen you get.
