iPhone 4S screen tint

My 3rd Iphone 4s is exactly as you said. It's not blueish as Iphone 4, but not yellow, just clear, and yellow tint can't really be discerned. At this level of tint, it's in my head i think.

I'm happy with it and will keep it.

I recently re-compared my friends iphone 4, and now his seems really to blueish to me, and after a color test comparison, it appears my 4s is the most realistic.

So don't exept to have a iphone 4 screen, it will be hard, i've seen some iphone 4s with it, but really few.

If your iphone is whiter than the iphone 4, and seems a really bit yellow or so, i think you should keep it, because there is some iphone 4s out of here that has a REALLY pronounced yellow tint, and by taking a refurb you may end up with this.

(mine 3rd 4s was a C39 so, as the other, and is really better than others i had, and Genius said they only have C39 for refurbs at the moment.)

I agree with you, I am going to keep it (baring any other issues like a re-occurence of the lack of audio on phone calls) the difference is close enough to not bother me where before it was very obvious and very annoying/upsetting.

Side by side it is still noticeable, the silver of the Settings icon isn't as "silver", the lens shot is browner on the 4S, as is the Siri background and stuff, but for viewing photos I think the 4S is winning out, it does look more natural. I really need to compare more of the photos that are in my photostream.

Black isn't quite a black and interestingly when off angle on a pure black picture with the brightness at its lowest (auto off) it goes silver/whiter compared to the 4. I guess that explains why its brighter/better looking off angle at normal brightness on a "real" screen.

I'll try and compare both a bit more later, as the 4 is the missus phone now and she is (understandably) wanting me to stop obsessing now.

Grr just noticed that the Vibrate motor is narfed. If I hold the phone with a finger to the right of the Home button (or on the lower right antenee) and get it to vibrate its perfect, exactly like the previous 4S, however with the finger off it makes a vvvvVVVARRKK sound like its not tightly sealed in place.

Really not sure I want to enter to lottery of the screen I'll get again but will an incorrectly seated vibrate motor damage the phone?.

C Net already posted something about the yellow screen. I don't know how true this is, but I heard 2 different manufacturers make the screens, LG and someone else, I was told LG makes the poor yellow displays, again I don't know how true this is, and since they were in such a rush to make more phones so fast, especially because all the pre orders, I honestly think they used cheap manufacturers. I refuse to change a phone at the genuis bar, as they handed me 2 defective phones and it was such a hassle to have to go back. I deal with apple directly and let me say this, I emailed a picture to an apple care representative of a 4S with a normal screen, and a 4S with a washed out yellow screen, he showed a co worker who has an iPhone 4S and his co worker said, "That is yellow and not normal". They are aware of the problem but I have no idea what they are doing about it. Just like the iPhone 4 and the 3GS having screen issues, you would think that would have been enough for apple to get it right. Awareness needs to be raised anyway we can, so they fix it. No one should have to settle.

I had a 4S with a similar kind of screen as well. I thought I might have an acceptable one finally, but no. After viewing a series of professional back and white photos on it, they all showed this sort of reddish brown sepia tone to them. In fact, this screen cannot reproduce a true gray color at all. All shades of gray on it are reddish brown. On my iPhone 4, with the "blue" screen, the photos are pure black and white, and grays are true gray in color.

Insanity. Armchair engineering is not advised. If your phone has a problem, you're unlucky to be in the .005 percentile. Take it back and get another one. Stop speculating. Stop the madness.

Really, what's the point of trying to figure out who manufactured your screen? Or whether the vibrate motor is properly seated. This is a phone you got for a couple hundred bucks. Stop acting like you're buying a house here.

Insanit? a little, however my personal hit rate so far is 3 4S's & 3 different issues. (lack of audio on some calls, screen colour issue and now bad vibration motor)

This doesn't lend confidence to what will happen if I go get it replaced again and I am not alone in this.

I have the bad vibration motor too, but i'm so happy with mine in other ways, that i'll not take the risk of an other replacement.

I think the rotor buzz is not a big deal, maybe a screw not properly fixed, or maybe something not really set right near to it. Pretty sure it cost nothing, in time and money, to fix it by ourself. And if it costs, I'll keep it aswell, as i said, not really a big deal, the phone can be heard easily when in the street, cause i wasn't feeling or hearing my 3gs, when vibrating.

BUT, the yellow screen, it affect a primary function of the iphone : his screen.

How can you enjoy a retina screen, and it's a substancial function, when you see it yellow, or less good than the iphone 4 one ?

In my case, we bought two iPhone 4S's out right so we wouldn't be under contract. Total price was around $1500. I had both phones replace for this ugly screen issue and both replacements are the same or worse. We may not be talking about a house here, but $1500 is a month's mortgage and way to much money for something like a phone to even have one tiny defect. Much less a defect in something as important as the screen - the one thing you look at every time you use it.

I got the white 4's and had the yellow screen. I called Apple (no apple stores around me) The apple rep said he thought it was an issue with the glue. They agreed to replace the phone. I hope that when they go to ship the new phone that they verify that the screen is white and works properly to save us both time...

Whoa. I just turned my phone sideways while wearing polarized sunglasses and it looked like it was covered in spilled Tang of lemonade or something. If my screen looked like that all the time I would have been back to the store before it finished booting.

So I got my other phone it had a little bit of glue left behind but the colors r not washed out but my vibrator for my phone is making a unusual sound and took it 2 apple and they told my it is fine but it's not

Well BAD news. I just got the brand new replacement phone from customer relations insted of a referb and this phone has the worst most yellow screen i have seen. I traced this phone on fed x all the way from china and it is so bad.

I am so tired of these crappy screen phones! I have wasted tons of time gas and energy trying to get a good phone.

I wish i never bought a iphone 4s. The worst part is i am now stuck in a two year contract for a phone i am not even using.

What the h e l l am i to do? I am so f ing p i s s e d !!!

This is total bait and switch APPLE and ATT both have great looking phones on display but the ones they are selling customers are crap!! YELLOW YELLOW YELLOW

2 iphone 4s white were affected and went straight back to apple..

today next try in the store: 9 of 10 4s were yellowish, just one was the wanted white-blue screen.

did not buy because they did not want to open the package before . 4s has died for me..

BUT my question:

are all ( most) 4 also affected? did they also get the 4s **** screens??

my last white 4 was wonderful, but bougt half a year ago..

I made the third or fourth comment on this thread on release day. My girlfriend and I pre-ordered and both got yellow screens (I had a C38, she had a C39, both black, both 64g). I noticed mine immediately, as I was used to the awesome screen on my iPhone 4 (now my daughter's iPhone 4).

After a few days, my girlfriend's phone was stolen. She had insurance through AT&T, and they replaced it with an absolutely PERFECT 4S. Her screen is even better than my old iPhone 4 in side-by-side comparisons.

I visited the Apple Store in Manhattan Beach, CA, and the "genius" couldn't see that my screen was a dirty ashtray compared to every display phone. But the manager was a little more savvy, and he offered a one-time replacement (he wasn't impressed that CNET had quoted me in their article on the topic). They fed me the crap about glue curing, etc., so I decided to give it more time before taking advantage of the replacement offer. I waited and waited and tried to get used to it.

Last weekend, my phone fell into the ocean while boarding a boat in bumpy seas. My replacement via AT&T insurance will arrive within the next couple hours. Now that I have $598.00 invested ($399 plus $199.00 deductible), I'm hoping for the same luck my girlfrieind has.
