iPhone 4S screen tint

its is possible on white model to get bluish bright.. but i just giving up on my black model.. i just change 3rd times, but im glad that on my changes i've got bright white.. but still its not bluish.. and somehow ive found the article by tim cook that might hear our problem about standardize on manufacturing.. guys, read it at here http://appadvice.com/appnn/2012/01/apple-cook-fla

Just for info they are both Black 32GB phones. Left being 4 and right 4S. If I turn the brightness down on the 4S it looks more like the 4. I put the brightness up to max on both for comparison. Looks like the backlight is slightly stronger on the 4S's.

I think if you guys compare screen hue between 4 and 4s, just take the iphone 4 produced last year, not comparing to the 8G iphone 4 produced this year. Generally the iphone 4 produced last year is more blue. I doubt the 8G iphone 4 is just with the same kind of screen with which iphone 4s has.

I hope there is a flash issue or something with your camera here because your right iphone 4S looks very washed out with a contrast that's too high. It might be normal but looks washed out in the picture. Washed out screens is another issue people are having. Cheers!!

I also bought an iphone 4s recently (December 28, 2011), from the look of its display screen, I can see the difference, the display of iphone 4s is washed out and a bit yellowish compared to my brother's iphone 4. Serial starts with C39......the unit came from Singapore (imei# 01-303800-508058-0), I bought it here in the one of the retail store in the Philippines. How come apple QA allowed such kind of display defects to happen? The quality specially for iphone's should be high and consistent (Tim should probably fired those people involved), people are expecting the RIGHT VALUE for their money (the unit is not cheap). If SJ is still around I'm sure he will be dealing with this issue more seriously, Please settle this DISPLAY ISSUE (wash out/yellowgate).......I'm one of the many people who is disappointed with the way apple people handle this issue, they should recall the unit and replaced it ASAP, just like what other companies are doing (like Toyota for instance)...Common Tim Cook do your JOBs, sJOB entrusted you this JOBS...don't just sit around and received your pension plan, Act Now....before people make up their mind and shift to Android or Window based phones...I'm about to loose my nerves....Act Now....please

Apple is stronge enough to ignore and deny the problems iphones have now. Apple *****. audio gate, yellow gate, and battery gate. There are so many gates only in iphone 4s. If Apple keep ignoring us as the customers, we would turn to the other produces.

Pardon me, but the screen of your iphone 4s on the right looks dull and wash out, the screen of iphone 4 on your left is far more within the standard of iphone, I had seen some iphone 4s unit with screens similar to that of your iphone 4 on the right which is obviously the Standard, let's face it apple's quality is deteriorating since SJ (RIP) left the company...=(

too ( I FINALLY got an amazing 4s screen) but Steve Jobs wouldn't have done anything either. This yellow tint issue has been going on since the 3gs/4 came out. Stop with that already.

I don’t want to disappoint anyone but, Apple will not fix this issue. After some discussion with someone at the Apple Corporate Executive Relations, I was told that they had investigated the issue and came to a conclusion that there is no screen problems and that they are within specifications and acceptable. I’ve returned my 7^th yellowish iphone 4S and decided to quit. I’ll wait for the next iphone release. I’m going to waste any more time on this, it’s not worth it. And by the way, my last couple of posts have been edited by the host, so they are reading but not acting. Shame on Apple. Samsung smartphones are looking better everyday.

I have to agree with clayton. Update on my status is I will soon be on my 3rd iPhone 4s. Is it to much to expect the screen to be as nice and clear as my year old iPhone 4? I mean really is that to much to ask when spending 650.00 out of my 2 year contract. I've been looking at the Samsung galaxy nexus and I don't see any **** yellow tint on the ones in 3 local stores in my area. If I do make the switch it won't be just my phone it's gonna be my tablet as well as going back to windows based pc's. Apple I'm not so much of a fanboy that I will accept a phone I have to look at and interact with on a daily basis that I'am unhappy with. I'd even be ok with apple saying yeah you know what some of these phones are more yellow than we want them to be and maybe in the future we could possibly put a temp calibration in the software. But for apple to look at a yellow tinted phone and say yeah that is great and within in specs is ludicrous. Just my 2 cents for what it's worth.

While some customers may have gotten use to the yellowish screen tint some 4S units have, most seem to prefer the white/neutral color balance their previous iPhones, iPods, and iPads have shown. Even if a customer preferred a 4S with a yellowish screen tint, there is no guarantee of getting one. Based on this thread, most would order white/neutral though. The problem is the variation in 4S screens; some are yellowish and some are white/neutral. The variation in 4S screen tints has probably been aggravated by multiple LCD suppliers racing to meet 4S demand. If Apple added separate model numbers for yellowish vs white/neutral 4S screens, customers would be able to choose rather than take their chances and play the return guessing game. An iOS color temp utility may be a workaround, but the best long-term solution is to reduce variation in shipping 4S units so customers receive the consistent, premium quality they expect from Apple.

Has anyone tried to exchange screens between iPhone 4s and your old iPhone 4 in a workshop? You can call me crazy but I'm kinda desperate in hope that I will ever get good bluish screen from Apple store. Today I changed another 3 iPhones at Regent Street Apple Store UK and they are all even more yellow than the one I complained at initially :(( I have now 7 yellow iPhones 4s behind.

And by the way absolutely all display iPhones at above mentioned store are yellow now, Apple seems to have done this trick because of flurry of complains that iPhones bought and iPhones displayed are different.

Claytonb, It seems ridiculaous from the reply of Apple that you posted here. " Screen tint is Acceptable"???? ***, so where is the quality, and they only produce ACCEPTABLE products to us? We have waited so long time and paid that much to have acceptable products.I don't really expect Apple provide us perfect or excellent products( if Apple does, of course we are happy), but at least a very good product, not an acceptable product.

Its a phone, its not a monitor to be calibrated, I have seen HTC phones with a huge variation in screen color, a Galaxy S II with pinkish hues, anyone changing their phone 7 times because they don't like a slight tint that their last phone didn't have (and bluish actually makes things look worse) needs to get a grip.

Apple seems to be the home the of the ocd tech user more than anywhere else (yes I am one too but have a bit of control here), Who ever said Apple should make perfect phones and computers? They are mass produced like everything else these days and by the tens of millions. Apple are making a fortune out of elitism, you think because its Apple it must be top standard, that's wrong you paid more for the same product as an android user or Nokia user pretty much, as there is only so much variation with circutry and casings and new phones out already make the 4S which I own look dated anyway. Nothing about the 4S or 4 warrants the cost we pay, we just pay top dollar because we like the phone and brand, bigger fool us it seems as we could get more for less elsewhere if we wernt so hung up on the Apple brand.

If you dont like the tint get another phone brand, it really is just a smarphone nothing more nothing less, now go enjoy your lives.

Why? Bluish tinted screens dont reproduce images properly, clouds end up with an odd pink tinge, the warmer new screen is much better for viewing images, which is kinda what a screen is used for in smartphones.
