Sound issues using FaceTime on Mac!!

I was using FaceTime perfectly fine. And then out of no where, sound just stopped working. This happened before and then suddenly started working again. I can hear the other person just fine but they can't hear me. I've checked the 'video' option making sure internal speakers are selected. And then systems>preferences>sound, i made sure the input and output sound were not muted. I've restarted computer a few times too. Please help!!!

I have the same problem. If I use Skype, my mother-in-law hears and sees me just fine. Swithc to iChat or Facetime and she sees me but cannot hear me. I still see and hear her fine. My system is a Tower Mac Pro 2.8 GHz Quad Core Intel running 10.7.2 using an iSight camera. I either use Skype or Facetime on the wifi iPad. Since it works with Skype and used to work with Facetime it seems to be software, not hardware.

External iSight's firewire mic is not supported in the Lion version of the FaceTime app. http://support.apple.com/kb/SP629

The firewire iSight camera works with Lion's FaceTime, but the iSight's Firewire mic is not available for selection in FaceTime > Video. This seems to be a limitation of the FaceTime app itself rather than the iSight's mic.

The external iSight's mic works in Lion (and earlier Mac OS versions) with other video chat app such as iChat or Skype, but not with Lion's FaceTime. Neither the previous version of FaceTime Version 1.1 (258) from OS X 10.7.1 nor the current Version 1.1.1 (262) from OS X 10.7.2 can use external iSight's Firewire mic. I have been able to use ONLY USB connected mics in the Lion version of FaceTime.

Just replaced beta version with The .99 app. Beta worked great NEVER any problems!!! Upgraded and facetimed to another upgraded iMac that had worked great with beta. It is now intermittent and choppy sound and video. Have been using the beta version with the same two computers since beta came out with never a problem. ONLY THING DIFFERENT IS THE NEW .99 APP of FACETIME!!!!

Same iMacs, Same operatiing systems (lion).

APPLE YOU NEED TO FIX THIS!!!

We are having similar problems! Running OS X on a Macbook Pro using Facetime. In the middle of a video call the people on the other side can suddenly not hear us at all. Several repeat calls and they still can't hear us. Under System Preferences our microphone seems to be working fine-can see a response to our talking on the little sound bar. Also don't have sound levels up to high. Haven't found any other things to check on other discussions. Has anyone found an answer yet?

My parents-in-law have the same problem on their Mac. They are still on Snow Leopard, used to have the beta version and have upgraded to the paid version. They would lose sound part way through a call and shutting down and restarting FaceTime would fix it. The loss of sound part way through a call still occurs under the paid version. We have tried adjusting all the settings in FaceTime itself, but it shouldn't be a problem since restarting FaceTime normally gets it to work. We haven't tried trashing the preferences for FaceTime yet, but they are not confident enough to do this on their own, and since they live overseas, I haven't been able to do that yet. Has anyone else tried deleting the preferences for FaceTime and re-entering them to see if that fixes the issue?
