Siri is not working AT ALL on new iphone 4s. Anyone else having trouble?

iPhone 4s arrived by mail today. Turned on Siri via Settings/General. Asking REALLY simple questions like "What is the weather?" and Siri has not responded ONCE with an answer other than:

"What was that again?"

"Sorry, something's gone wrong. Can you try that agan?"

"Sorry, I didn't get that."

"Uh oh. Something's wrong. Can you try again?"

SO frustrating and disappointing. The microphone doesn't seem like the problem, as it is able to record audio elsewhere.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue with Siri?

Hi Andy,

I will answer from Siri. I got Siri to work by the steps:

1. turn off Siri on your phone

2. power the phone off

3. Power the phone back on

4. turn Siri back on

5. Select English for Australia

6. test Siri

7.change language back for USA English

8.with luck Siri will work for you now

The key seems to be turning Siri off before you power down the phone. You have to completely shut the phone down and then restart it.

Had the same problem with Siri, in German Siri tells me, "Es gibt ein Probelm und ich kann Deine Fragen jetzt nicht beantworten", which means "I have a Problem and I cannot help you now, please try again later".

I did the "RESET", as discribet here, Siri worked for a short time, but then again I had the same Problem.

I Think, it must be a server-problem on the Apple-side. I tried it with different Network-Connections, WLAN, 3G, it has nothing to do with that.

Of course, Siri is Beta-Release, but if this problems are because of beta-issues, than Apple may never push the new IPhone with Siri in souch an agressive way. For me, in fact Siri is not usable!!

I was having the same problem today turned off the phone then turned it back on and it was working just fine. I still feel odd because i never know if it will happen again. Im just wondering is there anyway apple can fix it so it never happens again. Another thong i noticed is that the navigation is kind of messed up after all that it keeps showing that im across the street is anyone else having this problem?

Siri is pretty much completely worthless.

I get "I'm really sorry about this, but I can't take anymore requests right now" at least 12 times a day. I stopped showing my 4S off to people because they wanted to see what was new and when I brought up Siri, she would choke, and they would laugh at me. Now I just tell people who want an iPhone to get an iPhone 4 and it saves them $100. If my business worked as well as Siri, I'd be filing for bankruptcy.

And don't give me that "It's still in beta" bull. When Apple advertises a product feature on TV, it's not allowed to be in beta anymore. People are paying good money for a product that doesn't work. This is the first Apple product I actively hate (and tell people not to buy).

Get your stuff together, Apple. You're not the cool, hipster kid on the corner anymore. Time to play with the big boys.

I spoke with Apple Care today. Their suggestion: reset the phone. (I already tried everything else suggested in this thread and did not want to reset).

The reset did not do anything. I am pretty sure this has nothing to do with the software, I think it's Apple Server's inability to handle the amount of Siri voice requests coming in. I truly believe its a server side issue and not our phones.

Either way the guy above me makes a good point. People are angry, and I am getting there too.

I am able to use Siri 3 out of 10 times. This feature is totally irreliable.

I found that you do not have to totally turn off the phone power to get siri to work again. Our 4S worked great when we first purchased it in December. After awhile it got really frustrating when it went dumb. I found that just turning off siri and then back on seemed to bring her back to being cooporative again. Perhaps the next time it happens I might try the power off in addition to turning siri off and then back on.

Having the same issue here, Siri is useless 80% of the time, even for simple things like asking Siri to call "name" mobile. Siri is sending these simple requests back to the central server, why would they do this when the iPhone 4 would simply dial the person with a local search, it was much faster. I can understand that longer more complicated statements would need to go back to the servers to decipher but come on, simple dial statements should be handled locally, that would relieve some of the pressure on the servers.

Ok so what i noticed about siri is that it doesnt work in certain places i have no clue as to why but it just doesnt . When im at my bros house siri totally shuts out on me and i cant connect to the net or do anything but when i leave it starts working perfectly fine. It makes me wonder if it depends on the kind of cable you have maybe his sattelite is messing up my connection to whatever sattelite connection i need because he has direct tv. What kind of cable do you guys have ? Just trying to see if my theory makes any sense.

Going through options > general > RESET ALL

has helped a little bit, I still get plenty of failed attempts and very slow return times.

But be aware, this messes up all of your notification settings and a few other settings as well. Apple said it wouldn't but it did. These settings must be reconfigured again.

Also, some verizon owners will need to dial *228 then option 1 to reconfigure their handset inmediately after reset.

Dissapointed.

Yep, C rapple have done it again! Yesterday my £575 i phone 4s decided i didnt need my contacts anymore, and deleted them ALL of its own accord.... because i had just replaced my computer it took forever to figure how to get them back... eventually i managed to get an older contacts list uploaded, only to realise that now my texts are auto dictating pure nonsense, for example trying to replace the word thanks with first tja then thans? Apple really are taking the mick, considering i have been a loyal customer for years spending a small fortune on substandard products and them expecting to get away with it, on top of that Siri has never worked for me,and my new macbook pro has a serious graphics problem, with user interfaces dissapearing and bugging out.... i really am considering goin pc, but then the new macs are using pc parts anyway so what exactly are we paying for?
