Siri is not working AT ALL on new iphone 4s. Anyone else having trouble?

iPhone 4s arrived by mail today. Turned on Siri via Settings/General. Asking REALLY simple questions like "What is the weather?" and Siri has not responded ONCE with an answer other than:

"What was that again?"

"Sorry, something's gone wrong. Can you try that agan?"

"Sorry, I didn't get that."

"Uh oh. Something's wrong. Can you try again?"

SO frustrating and disappointing. The microphone doesn't seem like the problem, as it is able to record audio elsewhere.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue with Siri?

Well, there lies your problem, I suppose. AT&T hasn't really wowed anybody when it comes to network stability or customer support, but the problem isn't entirely on them. I'm on verizon and having the same issue.

What I don't understand is, why does siri need to connect to any network to do simple native commands such as send a text message or pull up a contact? I mean, I understand if you're looking for web-based assistance, but dialing somebody in your contacts shouldn't need to use data.

Also, it IS launch day and there are literally millions of people activating and using icloud at once. I'm sure this is just a hiccup and will be resolved soon enough. Everybody becomes such a critic when apple has any problem.

Let's see any other phone manufacturer sell 1 million phones in 24 hours and millions more and still run as smooth as this. It's a new technology so there are going to be bugs and glitches, regardless.

I have been having this same issue since last evening, October 14th. It wasn't working completed, or I could get a message through here or there.

Fix: I updated my home router to allow all traffic through for my iPhone. For an AT&T router, this was setting it to DMZ mode for my iPhone in the Firewall settings.

The fact that Siri is working for some and not others, is probably because some people are using wifi with restrictive firewalls, and others are using cellular.

Completely agreed with TBerro. If it's going to connect to a network just to process local commands, I can only imagine the uptime of Siri once a 4s gets in these 1 million pre-orders owners hands.

I mean seriously, Siri uses data just holding the button down. Doesn't even have to say anything. A bit unnecessary if you ask me.

I don't quite understand the argument that Siri will work as long as not too many people are using the most touted featured of the new iPhone 4S. So what happens when Apple sells a million more phones? If the feature was properly designed and the network servers appropriately scaled, it would be working as advertised.

Mine is working this morning. But it's still much slower responding than it was yesterday initially, and I'm on a pretty fast Wifi connection. I suspect Siri is going to be next to useless when people are in places where they can only connect to AT&T's unreliable spotty 3G service. And as more iphone 4S's come online, what then? It will be quicker to send out for the answer to a question via the Pony Express.
