Siri is not working AT ALL on new iphone 4s. Anyone else having trouble?

iPhone 4s arrived by mail today. Turned on Siri via Settings/General. Asking REALLY simple questions like "What is the weather?" and Siri has not responded ONCE with an answer other than:

"What was that again?"

"Sorry, something's gone wrong. Can you try that agan?"

"Sorry, I didn't get that."

"Uh oh. Something's wrong. Can you try again?"

SO frustrating and disappointing. The microphone doesn't seem like the problem, as it is able to record audio elsewhere.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue with Siri?

I have tried everything but still no Siri. Followed every possible fix mentioned here. Guess I'll just have to wait. Used Siri all day yesterday. Didnt touch the keyboard once. I guess thats the price of new tech. Once you get used to it, it frustrates you when it stops working.

Hopfully it'll be back up by monday(or sooner). For now I have a juiced up iPhone 4.

I have been having the same problems. Siri says it cannot connect to the network. I tried resetting the network, all to no avail. I tried the simplest technique and it looks like it works everytime. Do NOT restore your iPhone 4s from a backup. I reset mine to the factory default. Siri now worked fine. I then reinstalled all of my apps, music, photos, etc from iTunes as if it was a new iPhone. Everything works and Siri remains functional. I then created a backup of this. Hopefully if I have to restore again, I will restore from this Backup.

See if this works for you.

Yeah, you would think Apple would have been ready for this, but let's not forget...they did say it was still in beta. I can't wait until they have all the bugs out of the system. I was playing with her all night last night...she's a blast!

But this is also why I won't be backing my 4S to the cloud. If something ever happens to the cloud for some reason, or if I can't access it when I need it....well, you want to talk abotu a headache!

FIX FOR OUR SIRI PROBLEMS:

I alsO had Siri working Perfectly yesterday and then no luck today.

I determined this is a network issue that is isolated in some phones utilizing Wifi and or 3G or wifi hotspot.

TO FIX YOU DO NOT NEED TO TURN OFF YOUR PHONE

1. Turn Siri off

2. Release your network

3. Turn off wifi

4. If you hot spotted turn it off if it was on or on if it was off.

5. Turn Siri back on

6. Ask Siri if she missed you.

Once Siri re establishes you ip address w the server it will continue to work.

If you are still have trouble repeate the steps. Apple is known to have safeguards with their software and it seems Siri issues stem from the program trying to log and return queries from One source or distinguishing the source. Renewing your ip address on the phone and refreshing the wifi or 3G should fix this.

Siri has quit working twice for me. One thing I've noticed is that both times it quit when I was trying to use it to do text entry into fields. Last night it began when I was trying to enter text for a text message. Eventually I got it back. Today it quit when I was trying to use it edit contact info.

Maybe that's somehow related.

Also, not sure you can pin it on AT&T or any carrier. Before I activated my phone I was using Siri over WiFi.

Terrible unboxing experience -- can't believe Siri was disabled by default and buried under general settings when I set-up the phone from my back-up. There's no easy way to get back to the Siri command list, it vanishes after you say something. Not documented anywhere.

Then Siri works less than she doesn't work. Right now she's thinking about a tough one -- "what can I say?" -- spinning and spinning "having trouble connecting to the network." Often she just vanishes with no error message given at all.

I also notice the Wifi icon switches to 3G and back -- often when Siri chokes. Maybe just another bug.

Siri also insists she can't figure out my location and tells me to turn on location services -- which are already on. Probably the same load issue -- the Siri server wouldn't process my location and respond in tme if it was overloaded -- but regardless the cause, the error handling logic is broken.

This isn't a beta, it's a bad joke. The vaunted artificial intelligence will likely star in the next week of Doonesbury comic strips. Even when she's working, Siri understood "What can I say or What can you do" but not "What commands can I say?" or "Show me the command list again" or many other similar variations. Not terribly the surprising -- the failed tech Siri is based on, the Personal Assistant That Learns (PAL), is no HAL either.
