iOS5 bugs (iPod Touch 4G)

iPod Touch 4G updated to iOS 5. Cover Flow is very slow and laggy, Youtube and Facebook (already updated for iOS 5) are laggy too. But most of all the homescreen sometimes freezes for a few seconds after unlocking the display. Finally the device is in general slower than before (iOS 4.3.5).

Is someone experiencing the same issues?

Please help .

I'm getting a lot of these issues too. Wish I could downgrade 😟 The biggest issues for me are the lag with everything I do. I can type a whole sentence before my ipod Touch 4g catches up and it shows on-screen. Everythings takes an age now. Also, many of my apps have become unstable and crash when they never did before. Trying to update the podcasts directly on my Touch is painfully slow now. Another thing, since iOS 5 I am having trouble accessing theAppstore - it takes several attempts and takes an age to load up. I'm really dissapointed. I loved my iPod Touch but iOS 5 has crippled it 😟.

Have you also applied the same changes to your iTunes library as well? If you only modify the track info in your iPod, remove them, and then transfer the same files back to your iPod, then you're not making any modifications at all. I caught onto this rather slowly when I noticed that each of the albums for a band was separated into different genres on my iPod. I merged all of the albums into one genre (in the iTunes Library) and then transferred them back to the iPod.

Yeah, I did. Well actually it's not much of these major things like Album or Genre that I'm irritated by. It's the lyrics that are put up. Sometimes, you get the song from somewhere other than iTunes and the lyrics are preloaded by whoever shared it. Most times, the lyrics are wrong. Lol. I delete these lyrics from my library, sync the track to my iPod and boom, it's back. Both the track in the library and the track in my iPod has the lyrics again.

WOW...not sure I would ever say this, but I'm REALLY disappointed in Apple and the problems that they have introduced with this "update". This is really disappointing and aggravating, to say the least.

Here is the problem that I'm having with an iPod Touch 4th Gen.. I had the iPod set to sync a folder in the Photos directory. The directory contains 205 photos. Every time I sync the iPod, it makes a duplicate of the contents of the directory rather then update the photos within that directory. The iPod says that I have 619 photos, all of them are duplicates of each other. Even when I removed the option to sync with that folder, it does not remove the folder from the iPod, sync acts as if there is nothing to remove from the iPod.

On top of this, even though I'm not sync'ing any videos, the About | General tab shows that I have (are you ready for this...) 2,147,483,647 videos! Pretty impressive. Not sure this iPod, or even my 500GB backup drive could hold that many videos.

Again, been a big fan of Apple for a long time. Worked, scrimped and saved for each of these Apple products for a LONG time, now they are as screwed up as an M$ product I've ever owned. Really, really, disappointed.

Hoping Apple corrects this soon.

Four iPod touch 4g 8 gig in our house.

All on seperate accounts.

All updated to ios5. ~huge mistake~

All four are having problems.

I have tried all the tips listed above, restart, restore, turning notifications off, etc.

Nothing helps.

Safari crashes, music skips, keyboard lags and is sluggish. Crash logs full of out of memory errors regarding safari.

We have invested a lot of money on this product in our house and expect a solution from Apple.

How did these bugs even get past the beta testing phase?

WHAT'S THE DEAL APPLE? THROW US A BONE ALLREADY.

I'm not sure if this is an iOS 5 issue or not, but on top of the slowness and the crashing of all kinds of apps, I also occasionally get this tiny red bar that comes up for just a moment at the top of the screen when I exit apps.

I have no idea what would cause it. I'm on the ipod touch 4g 32GB and my memory is not anywhere near full. I always close apps when I'm done, and I don't run anything but gmail in the background.

When I unlock the ipod, after this new update, while listening to music it sometimes makes the song I'm listening to skip for a few seconds. I hate the sound of skipping music. I didn't pay four hundred dollars for a walkman.

My biggest concern is the occasional red bar at the top of the screen. I have no idea what it could be. Maybe the update caused it? It never happened before.

This happens when the physical memory of the device is reaching a critical point, i.e. not enough Ram free.

iPod touch 4th gen ( including the white 2011 models = still same hardware ) has only 256MB of Ram. iOS itself occupies 150MB without a single app open. So there are barely 100 MB to run apps, but some are programmed to use 128 or so - everytime such a conflict is reported to the OS itself it will display this warning.

Harmless mostly, but it *can* inidcate a crashing app that is to occur soon after the red sign .

iphone4 and iPad2 have 512 MB of Ram , double the amount of the iPod, you will never see the red bar on these or if ever then only if a multitude of apps are opened.

In addition to issues already mentioned, mine seems to randomly decide to sync my entire library and stop when it when ever it feels like it. I don't get any error message or notifications that it's not finished syncing. Just tonight I went to start using it and saw that most of my content was greyed out. I hooked it back to my computer and saw it had over 2000 items to sync. That's ridiculous and pretty unaccepltable. This is the third time it's happened since "upgrading."

My ipod heats up as well. But most importantly I dont have sound for game apps ! Sound comes and goes ! This is really bad, I dont know what to do. At other time the sounds are muted and the keyboard clicking noise vanishes even when it is turned on from the settings! I didnt have any of these problems in the previous iOS version.
