iOS5 bugs (iPod Touch 4G)

iPod Touch 4G updated to iOS 5. Cover Flow is very slow and laggy, Youtube and Facebook (already updated for iOS 5) are laggy too. But most of all the homescreen sometimes freezes for a few seconds after unlocking the display. Finally the device is in general slower than before (iOS 4.3.5).

Is someone experiencing the same issues?

Please help .

According to MacRumors, these are the issues addressed in 5.0.1 - I wouldn't hold my breath that it will help with syncing, but hope to try later today.

This update contains improvements and other bug fixes including:

- Fixes bugs affecting battery life

- Adds Multitasking Gestures for original iPad

- Resolves bugs with Documents in the Cloud

- Improves voice recognition for Australian users using dictation

I've updated to ios5.0.1 and it seems my initial issue about ios5 had been fixed. I have mixed dance sets on my itouch and when I play them on ios5 and try to go the home page, the screen freezes then the circle thing comes up and then the unlock screen comes on. It basically interrupts the mix that I'm listening to and resets to the start of the mix! It never used to this in the ios4 versions.

Anyway, with this new ios5.0.1 update, it fixed that problem. I'm not sure about the other bugs though, I'll have to test it. Let's keep at it to keep the Apple guys on their toes, just like Steve Jobs did.

Ok, did the upgarde to iOS 5.0.1, and just like 5.0 it ran into problems doing the update and I had to put my Touch into recovery mode. Talked a bunch to Phil at iPod Touch support. The initial sync didn't really improve on anything, but Phil suggested turning off the 128k conversion option and making a small playlist to sync from as a start. That worked ok and eventually I ended up checking off most of the genres and playlists that I originally had (but did not choose the "fill empty space automatically" option). It took 3 syncs but they went much faster of course without having to do conversion, and did copy everything over.

So I don't necessarily see any evidence that 5.0.1 made a difference, though it's hard to tell. But turning off the 128k conversion does seem to have helped. It's unclear how that helped - is simply being able to go faster on the copy avoiding some kind of timeout or other issue?

OK I have updated to iOS 5.0.1. couldnt stand the buggy iOS 5 anymore. The update to iOS 5.0.1 went smoothly and my iPod touch 4 is now working much better than before. The audio problem that I was having has apparantly dissappeared for now. I have been using it for one day and wuill need to test it out throughly to see if any new or old bugs appear or not.

Its nice that Apple heard their customers (though i would say it was the iPhone 4S users who did the heavy lifting here). But Thanks 🙂

Even after updation to iOS 5.0.1 I haven't seen any improvement. The homescreen of my 4G iPOD Touch (8Gbyte Version) still freezes for 1-3 sec after unlocking the display.

Anyone else still having this issue with iOS 5.0.1?

Hope this will be fixed with an upcoming Update.

Tried the new "update" but am still having the same issues on both 3G and 4G Touches failing to sync what I tell it to sync. Again, this iOS 5 has rendered my Touches useless whereby I can't even trust that once I unhook it from the cord and start walking out the door that down the road I will again be extremely frustrated due to the fact that the stuff that I thought would be there, is not. At some point doesn't this become a fraud issue whereby we were promised something that works that is way worse than what we started out with....With the kicker that you are not even able to roll back to the previous version that worked. That is so anti-Time Machine mentality coming from the company that made the Time Machine backup the easy industry standard. Personally, I have resorted to buying another iPod Touch that ISN'T running iOS5 to get a machine that I can trust as my PDA.

"When I press the power button on my iPod touch 4g (32gb) while it is locked it usually just flickers the screen on and off. Please tell me if u are experiencing this on yours (running iOS 5) so I no it is a software bug not a hardware issue with my button."

I have the same problem, and I'm wondering the same. Does anyone know if it's a hardware or software problem?

I just bought my ipod touch 4th gen 32g. I was having a blast with this thing until I updated to i0S5. My ipod wouldn't sync at all after the installation. This was fixed after doing a restart on the ipod. I am still having tremendous trouble with a lot of these apps not opening. All of the pre-installed apps work perfectly, but everything I download ends up doing nothing. I literally have to download a new app to get the other ones to magically start working. This only works for a day.....sometimes. If I restart the ipod or the battery dies, the apps completely stop working again. They try to open, but just shut down right afterwards. I did notice some apps timing out back to the home screen as well. If I watch a netflix movie, it will kick me out of netflix right after watching a movie. Facebook, wells fargo, all my games, etc do not work unless I go download another app......It doesn't make any freaking sense to me. I'm thinking about taking this thing back to the store. I am tired of dealing with BS software. Please don't turn into the way certain other companies did Apple.....aka...MSI....Amazing hardware, but with the worst possible software available. 😠
