iOS5 bugs (iPod Touch 4G)

iPod Touch 4G updated to iOS 5. Cover Flow is very slow and laggy, Youtube and Facebook (already updated for iOS 5) are laggy too. But most of all the homescreen sometimes freezes for a few seconds after unlocking the display. Finally the device is in general slower than before (iOS 4.3.5).

Is someone experiencing the same issues?

Please help .

I just got my 8GB iPod Touch 4G and set it up last night. Noticed while I was playing music in the car today that the unlock bar hangs up for a couple of seconds, usually when music is playing and I want to skip to the next song. Glad to know it's not just me although sorry to hear others are being aggravated by the issue.

I set my iPod up as a new device because I was having issues with my 2G and didn't want to have anything "bad" in the backup transfer over to the new iPod. When I synced my music, it persistently arranged my On The Go folder from oldest to newest, which is the opposite of how I have it on my computer. I had to create a new folder and copy the songs into that to get them to display in the correct order on the iPod.

I got the 4G because I was on my 3rd or 4th replacement 2G due to mechanical failure and bugs. Bugs I experienced with the 2G were forgetting my passcode and forcing me to restore the device (this happened about once a month) and then filling up the free space with "other". I used to think that Apple devices were superior to others but now I really don't have much faith in them. I've also gotten poor/contradictory customer service in Apple stores and on the phone with Apple Care. It's disappointing.

I don't know if anyone has the same problem as what I am experiencing but I think I resolved it.

All I did was to remove the artwork linked to the mixes in my playlist. My guess is that the OS is having a hard time allocating resources playing the music and managing the artwork at the same time.

Once I removed the artwork, the system doesn't seem to reboot anymore when the home button is clicked twice when a mix is interrupted.

Hope this works for other people too.

THERE IS A WAY TO FIX THIS...

here are your options, follow and bugs will go away(:

1. disable as much notification apps in the settings.

2. limit the spotlight search options

3. if you really want this to work, delete iCloud account off he iPod.

my iPod works perfectly ever since I removed iCloud and photo stream of my iPod.

4. limit number of apps on the home screen.

5. delete apps running in background so it won't run down your memory.

6. after doing these turn iPod off then on, your device is like a computer so it needs to be turned off a day or two out of the week.

7. (optional) restore and try these steps, that's what I did and it worked, no home screen freezes and purfect iOS functionality.

what I did was I restored, set up without wifi, without locations on, without iCloud, these things will work.

on ios 5.1 released on this upcoming March 9th, the freezing will not be fixed... so FOLLOW THESE STEPS(:

I'm 100% positive this will work..

you guys are welcome(:

But all of these "fixes" are basically saying, disable many of the features of your device. We should be able to use these features and the device should work properly. Instead of we consumers only get 50% of use out of our Apple devices, how about Apple getting off their butts and making the things work correctly? Also, computers do not need to be turned off a full day or two out of a week. Laptops need to be turned off when they are not going to be used for a few hours or overnight so they can cool off. I appreciate the suggestions but to me it just seems like us trying to make up for Apple's shortcomings.

I'm a first time poster on here due to the frustrations that iOS5 has

given me on my 32gb 4g touch and after reading 8 pages I came

upon your advice. I tried it straight away and so far I seem to have

my snappy running 4g touch back.

I'll need to keep testing it over the next few hours but I had to sign

up and say THANK YOU

I do agree with RobinDawn though we shouldn't have to turn off

advertised features but other than return my ipod back to the

store and insist on a replacement model running iOS4 (Which

would lose yme the icloud back feature anyway) This seems to

be the best solution until apple sort things out.

It's just so obvious that iOS5 wasn't meant to be on a 4g touch

or below.

I don't know if this has been talked/answered yet, but whatever.

Anyways, downloaded iOS5 for white iPod Touch 4g 8gig last night. Now, for some reason, everytime I go to my lock screen, the camera ALWAYS appears on there, even though you can only get it after you double tap the Home button when on lock screen. And when I try to click the camera, the bottom of the screen lifts up slightly to see a little bit of the camera tools before coming down. Long story short, camera DOES NOT work on lock screen. And this happened only very recently, as in a few hours ago. Tried resetting all settings and restarting iPod. Doesn't work. Only issue I have.

Help?

My 64gb Touch 4g is a pathetic embarrasment on both 5 & 5.0.1 and i feel sorry for those who cant downgrade or bought a 4g for xmas etc...

Apple dont care about this as its gone on for months now, look in your report logs on your device and youll see error after error all pointing to low memory causing crashes.

Anyways i downgraded to 4.2.1 and 'Z'OMG its amazing, i miss the notification centre and a couple of apps dont work on this older ios but as far as speed n usability goes 4.2.1 is amazingly fast and stable and makes the touch 4g a pleasure to use once more!

I wait for news of 5.1 fixing the memory issues but i doubt apple will do anything, they already got our ca$h.
