Ur all acting like you've never had an iPhone before. I knew this would happen the iPhone's known for having a short battery life! however what I wasn't expecting was Siri the worst possible feature on the phone especially when apple described it as the "best" feature on the phone. The dam think doesn't work half the time unless u ask the ore programmed questions I.e. what's the weather like round here!?

I am wondering if maybe at night sometime it does something more active on the Apple servers? backups? or some sort of heavy traffic? - I agree that mine does the same, during the day it holds its standby charge 'fairly well' (although not as good as other phones).😕

I am not really sure why I should do a system restore to try and fix a battery duration/charge cycle problem when there is no guarantee that it will fix it, its almost as bad as the Lion-Wifi issue!

My phone switches off at 40% and when I plug it in to charge it appears dead. I have had it charging most of the day went out for the evening and it's switched off. So I can't let it run to below 29%. When I can reboot it it says I have 37%. So I don't know why it's switching off with no warning at 40%. Any ideas ?

Sounds like a dodgy battery or phone, definately need to take it back for a swap!

Mine came fully charged and I then saw 24hrs later it needed a full charge again - as it was down to 15%, so far it is holding up well (if you can call it that) and now lasts about a full 26-28hrs, which is an improvement, but it clearly needs a nuclear battery 😁

Until they release Siri out of Beta and working globally - at present it only knows about US Maps/businesses etc, it can only really do messages/emails/texts/weather etc. Shame you cant correct a text without redictating it all, its a real pain having it misunderstand then having to edit/review and resay it all again!

I'm in the UK and with UK config, it has a male voice and just keeps saying 'I only know U.S maps and businesses.. sorry about that', I could I know flip it to US settings, but I dont really want to look up US maps or businesses 😁😝

There will be no fix released, because it isn't a problem that can be fixed with a release. There are constant battery complaints with iPhones that have been coming in a steady stream for over 4 years. It's partly people who don't realize that the iPhone is not a cell phone, it's a powerful pocket sized computer that can, by the way, make phone calls. So you should expect battery life comparable to a good laptop.

The first thing to do is to determine if you phone is providing the battery life in the specs. http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html. If you are getting 6 or more hours of use (not counting standby) on a charge it is working the way it was intended. If you are not, or your standby and usage times are the same (Settings/General/Usage) there is a problem, but the problem is with an app, not the operating system. So there's nothing that a release can fix. You have to identify the app that is causing the excessive battery drain. It is almost always an app that sends data and that has a background process. This includes the built in apps like mail, ping, game center, etc. There have been hundreds (maybe even thousands) of posts over the past 4 years about how to troubleshoot abnormal battery drain. So don't think of it as an iOS 5 problem either, because you will find threads very similar to this one for every release that has ever hit the update stream. Here are a few examples:

I'm just going by the published capabilities of the phone from Apple. I don't think anyone here is expecting their batteries to last several days charging.

Since I had to charge my 3gs pretty much every 2 days, at least with 2 days it was bearable, however, if I need to charge it every day, As well as carrying my mains charger and USB cable, maybe I can get a massive battery and wear it on my back like they do in Ghostbusters !! 😉

Right here's my two pennies worth:

On iPhone what exactly is standby mode? Is it everything is disabled? Is it with all apps closed completely? Is it with aeroplane mode turned on?

Last night I had gone to bed with all apps closed (not just Minimised) the Wi-Fi was turned on and so was 3G! seven hours later this morning, my percentage went down by 12%. Now I consider that to have been on standby mode for 7hrs but I had lost 1.71 percent per hour. Which doesn't match apples 200hrs on standby.

The iPhone 4S battery runs down very quickly. Does anyone else have this problem?
