Change "My Number" iPhone 4S

This doesn't work for me. I have the 4S on Sprint and when I did above my phone number updated in the iMessage and FaceTime settings but not under Phone>My Number and also my number in iTunes is still incorrect. Any help?

Also I can't send an SMS to email since the port. I can email myself a text (email to SMS) but when I reply to it, it will not show up in my email. I can SMS other phones fine and receive SMS from cell phones and email but SMS to email will not work.

So glad somebody solved this problem - I've gone from Vodafone to Three here and had exactly the same issue. Maybe it is something to do with Three's network why you have to do this...

Facetime took a few attempts, it kept coming up with the temp number and verifying - until I tried to make a call and then it updated to my number.

OP your post worked for me on Sprint except for the My Number part.

phenline your link worked perfectly getting the last part fixed. It also fixed my issue of txt to an email address. Thanks to all for their input on this issue.

I purchased unlocked 4S from Apple (UK), inserted a new Three SIM card and then transferred old Orange number.

Imessage would send using temporary number and then even started randomly using the temp number on phone calls too. Temp number also stored under settings>phone and on iTunes

Above post worked a treat - brilliant because it was really starting to frustrate!

Small difference / clarification - Face time activation didn't throw up a mesage to say it hadn't verified / activated so after a little while (seconds not minutes of apparent inactivity) I just went back to settings then back in to Face Time and turned on again (or toggled off then on - can't remeber whether it had stayed on when I went back in).

OMG thanks so much! I wasn't porting but I passed on my iPhone 4 to my non-work SIM & I wasn't getting messages on my work SIM. Checking, my work # was still stored in the 4. I've changed now so reckon that's in the past! Thanks mate

I have 2 iphones that both had temporary numbers and following that trick worked for one of my phones but not for the other....

I literally dont have FACETIME in my settings, so theres no way i can switch it off, and when i unable then reable imessage i tries and failes to activate my old number... why doesnt it see my new number?? The one i manually set in my phone settings (I have a 3Gs so I can change it manually)...

Please help this is driving me nuts!!

Hi i had the same prob on my new iphone 4s imported my old number and the new number stayed lol , but just done the as instructed and wahay it worked my old number is now on itunes and my apps on my phone 🙂 Tyvm for your help nice 1 😉

I rang Three today and explained what steps I'd done to try and fix this, they said they will call me back tomorrow and let me know if there is anything else they can suggest.

Hi there, that's great news to hear that a new SIM fixes the problem. Can you tell me, did you go to a store for your new SIM? I tried to get one over the phone with Customer Services but they keep telling me to Restore, something I have tried numerous times... it doesn't fix it!

I think this mismatch has been screwing up my iMessage and FaceTime activation. My 4S has been sending the activation texts about 3 times per day since iOS 5.1 update and it's racked up a cost of £10 over the last month. My mobile plan doesn't include texts so I pay 10p for each one.😠

Just got my new micro sim - fingers crossed it stops the texts

Changing the micro sim and resetting 'My Number' has finally stopped my 4s sending iMessage activation texts all the time.

We'll see if I get my money back from Three for all those silent texts. I've put in a claim and have a case number

Thanks!! Worked great moving from Virgin (who don't offer iPhone in UK yet - wonder how many customers they're losing through that!) to T-Mobile.

This was really bugging me as I (wrongly) assumed that this would automatically change when the number flipped over to my T-Mobile acccount/sim. Thanks - you're a star!!

I'm facing this problem too... Tried the steps mentioned but did not work, on my 4s, below the iMessage field the phone no that is reflecting is ma previous no that I use to use, but on the my number field, my current no reflects, so two nos on two different fields, how can I change it..???

And cause of this I'm not able to send any text messages but can receive texts... I need help!
