I have got an iPhone 4S on the 14th and just transferred my number from my old network with my PAC code. Problem is, in settings>phone>my number: the number listed is the temp one that was used whilst waiting on my PAC code transferring! On the old iOS versions all you had to do was tap on "My Number" and it would allow it to be changed. This does not seem to work on the iPhone 4S with iOS 5.

I just had the same issue with my new iPhone 4S purchased fromApple in the UK. Ported my old number from02 to Three Mobile, but iTunes and settings -> phone -> My Number stillshow the temp number supplied by 3 Mobile prior to the transfer. Power cycling and re-syncing with iTunes madeno difference.
My old iPhone 3GS (IOS 4.3) and a friends iPhone 4 (IOS 5)still appear to allow this field to be edited, but not on the 4S.

I ordered it from customer services told them I had done the restore and everything they had told me numerous times - sim card arrived next day.
I contacted Three customer services they said I had to pay for a sim card in store but they could send one to me free by post which could take 3 days. Did you pay for your sim. Thanks
Nope got it free from the shop it's technicaly a fault so you shouldn't have to pay.
Ive just spoken to 3 who confirmed they have also spoken to Apple who in turn have admitted the issue with IOS5.1 and thatthe only solution is a new sim card. 3 are sending it to me with no charge and little debate.

Funny, other than the few "Sprint" folk, all the problems seem to be with Three!
I'm Ireland based and tearing hair out - will call into store today and see what they can do.

just insert into another phone and edit.... put back into the iphone again and thats it!!
I just got off the phone with Three (ported from O2) and they told me to go into store, pay the £5 for a new sim and that my next bill would be credited with £5.
Dont pay! I just went into the three store and told them i wanted to swap sims because of this problem and they mentioned £5 payment, I just said it was theirs or apples fault its not working and they gave me the sim for free.
Anyone found a fix other than replacing sim on 3?

The only fix is a sim change or putting your sim in a phone that allows you to edit the number.
And do you know which phones will let me do that?? I can find that phone to change it!! Thanks a lot!!
