problem after iOS5 with pairing iPhone with Car

I have a Lexus is250 which paired beautifully with my iPhone and I was able to play music from phone in my car. Since the upgrade, I cannot. I have "repaired" "Blue tooth audio", the radio in car "looks" like it is playing (you can use the controls on the car stereo to forward through playlist and it forwards on phone" but no sound comes out. This worked perfectly fine before iOS. Any ideas? I've deleted and re-paired phone twice....

Phoned up Apple and told them about the issues connecting to my car, they told me its an outdated software on my car radio, when I explained my car is a brand new model and the dealership said its down to Apple and that a lot of people have been having this issues, that he should check their own discussion boards he quite arrogantly said "as a company we are not to blame, you just have to wait for an update to sort it out" what a complete A HOLE !!!!

Just because your car is brand new does not necessarily mean the firmware on your system is up to date. It can take months for components to work their way through the supply chain to the factory, then there's the matter of getting it from factory to dealer, then time to sale.

Problems like this cropped up when iOS 4 was released. A number of manufacturers, most notably Chrysler, issued updates for their systems to correct compatibility problems. Give it time. Dealers are, for the most part, clueless. Check the web and contact Toyota.

I had iPhone 4 with iOS4 that worked fine with my Infiniti g37x. You couldn't see track information, but it was stable. Also, if I switched source of music from my bluetooth device to radio, music playback on my iPhone was paused. Then I upgraded my iPhone to iOS5. I got a cool feature to see track information, but not every time. Frequently, my nav display reloades due to bluetooth connectivity issue. And if I don't manually pause music playback before I switch my car from bluetooth device to radio, songs continue to silently play on my iPhone and drain the battery! I am not sure who should fix this, Apple or Infiniti, but I hope someone will, and quickly!

I went to the Apple store today and though the girl in their didnt exactly admitting to knowing about the problem, she did say rather oddly that an update that is forthcoming could possibly fix the issue, the update is coming in a couple of weeks, so lets hope that they do indeed know and as always are not admitting to having any faults i.e bad reception issues on the iPhone 4

I have the same problem with my new iPhone 4s and my 2011 Toyota Highlander. I can't seem to find anwhere on Toyota's website (which is useless unless you want to buy a new car) that references this issue which is obviously known. Ford has issued an update which can be found on their website. I did ask my Toyota dealer about it two weeks ago and they had no soluton or clue for that matter. It would be nice if Apple had the ability to do something about this. The tech support guy at Apple with whom I spoke said it wasn't their problem. Nice.😠

All,

I am reluctant to post this but given the number of others having the issue, I had to. I was driving one day and hung up from a call on my iPhone and as I was setting my phone down, somehow the iPod started to play and I swiped the volume just enough to hear the song faintly through my car speakers. I grabbed the phone and turned the volume up FROM THE PLAYER and low and behold, the blue tooth audio was working through my car speakers. So, either I didn't have the iPod turned up or a magic fairy fixed the problem. It works just as it did before. Kind of embarrassing but given the number of posts, Im not the only idiot... 🙂

All, I bought a new 4s about a month ago and have taken it through one upgrade. About two weeks ago I bought a 2011 Infiniti G37x (premium package, but no navigation; GPS drive works at least as well as Infiniti's $1700 system). The phone pairs nicely and I can easily make and receive calls. The iPhone works beautifly through the USG connection in the console, so I can see what is play on the iPod and control everything through my car audio system. The only hitch I have is the inability to get my iPhone phonebook to go into the Infinity phonebook to pick numbers from the iPhone.

Maybe it's not a bug, but sure it's a software problem only. Clearly Apple does not care about thousands or rather millions of BT users who lost their BT functionality. If BT 4.0 is not compatible with older BT equipment Apple should acknowledge it and make it option for the user to choose which version they NEED to use (not WOULD LIKE to use but NEED to use). Using everyday iPhone, Mac Mini, Macbook, iMac - I LOVE APPLE!

iOS5 has a lot of great features but not to be able to use hands free phone in the car? - here APPLE IS BAD!

I decided to buy another iPhone 4 (with iOS4) to use BT in my car. I will not update to iOS5 until it's BT software works.

Ford has released an update for their systems to correct this problem.

If you're having problems with the system in your car, complain to the manufacturer's regional office.

If the problem is in iOS, they are going to have a little more influence on Apple to look into it than you are. More than likely, the problem is in the in car system and is going to have to be addressed by an update from the manufacturer. Dealers and dealer technicians are completely clueless. I don't care if you're talking about a Lexus or Yugo dealer, they are all idiots. Talk to the regional office.
