Double Message Alerts with iPhone 4s.

Settings > Sounds > Ringer and Alerts > Vibrate (On/Off)

Note that there are two Vibrate options, one for Silent and one under Ringer and Alerts. You want the second one.

Download 5.0.1 (9A406) for iphone 4s

And 5.0.1(9A405) for iphone4 from the Internet .

Put ur phone on DFU mode.

press SHIFT+ restore button and chose the ipw 9A406

That's it :)

Wonder if this has something to do if you have installed gmail as the mail client with IMAP. The notification occurs when the email arrives in both your in-Box and All Mail folder resulting in 2 notifications.

Amandacan i did what you did and did not make a difference at all, my first message that i recieved after restoring my iphone etc had a double message ringtone AGAIN! This is like getting beyond a joke now, dont know when they going to realise but too many people are having this issue and nothing is done about it. God help Apple to Help us.

My new iPhone had this problem so I set out to find a solution. Found a brief guide here that helped me solve my problem, but I'm pretty sure the answers to my particular problem have already been posted here. Anyways, maybe there is something else in the post that will help you guys, just thought I'd share!

So I made a post saying I tried a couple of suggestions and it was fixed but it did come back. I have now resolved it for sure now though at least on my phone. My double alert was occurring as a result of notifications that were turned off but still had the sound switch on. I am assuming that normally that would be turned off too automatically but apparently not. I linked my double alert to the eBay app alerting me when I had notifications turned off on that app but the sound switch was still set to on. So I would sell something and get a double notification when an email would come through. Regarding iMessage maybe it's a similar issue.

Well I did it...they have stopped. I turned iMessage off and did a hard reboot of my phone and have had no issues since.

I've tried this and it does not seem to change anything. I assume I'm doing the hard reboot correctly - hold power and home buttons until the phone restarts.

This is highly annoying. I've tried playing around with various settings, including leaving iMessage off after a hard reboot, and still nothing changes.

Have you not had the issue with iMessage or texts in general? This has still occurred for me with iMessage turned off. I've also had the issue with WWF notifications.

What specifically did you have to do to correct the issue for the eBay notifications?

this work surely settings > Notifications > Messages and scrolling down to "repeat alert" and choosing never...

Mine was doing the same double / stutter text. I went to Sounds and turned vibrate with tone to OFF and now its working fine.

I have the hiccup issue too, with all notification sounds except (I think) the actual phone ringer. I tried everything that's easy...vibrate off/back on, hard reset etc. As of this instant it is working, but I expect it to come back. It doesn't bother me nearly enough to restore the phone, which takes forever with 25gb of music loaded. FWIW my phone was originally set up using a restore from a (3GS on iOS 4.2.1!) backup.
