Just like to add myself to the list. I have a new B&W Zeppelin Air, which I updated to the newest firmware right away. AirPlay from the iPhone 4S (iOS 5) brings the Zeppelin Air to a standstill after about 10 seconds and it disappears from the list of AirPlay devices, forcing me to reboot it. AirPlay from my iMac, MacBook Pro and iPad 1 (iOS 5 as well) run well without any glitches. The MacBook Pro has been running for over an hour.

My home network access point is an AVM Fritzbox.

My problem was that when i was streaming media from iphone to appletv2, it turned of airplay after exactly one minute. I started it again and after one minute it turned of agin. I had hard to belive that there was some problem within my router that would turn it of in exactly one minute. I solved it by turning off autolock in general settings, on my iphone 4s. No problem since then. Apparently some bug there when the screen turns off it also turns of airplay. I also tried to set autolock to 5 minutes and the airplay stopped after 5 minutes.

Something for apple to fix.

Same problem here. AirPlay was working well with my Airport Express until I upgraded my iPad 2 to iOS 5. Now, AirPlay to the AirPort Express is very finicky. I often have to turn AirPlay on and off several times to get it to work. But once the clip, sound, or video is finished, AirPlay stops broadcasting sound and again I have to fiddle around with turning the AirPlay on and off again.

Pretty sure this is an iOS 5 issue since this never happened prior to my iOS update.

I am using a Time Capsule as access point now. The music breaks off after about 2 minutes now and leaves the Zeppelin Air crashed. This is definitely different behavior, it never lasted more than 20 seconds on the old access point but I still considered this a serious bug and it's far from being fixed.

I have opened support requests with AppleCare and B&W, let's see what they say.

I am getting the same problem... No problems with any other device (iPad, iPad 2, iPod touch (airplay compatible versions), iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS all work fine.

But iPhone 4S does not work at all. This is definitely isolated to the iPhone 4S specifically. I wonder if it is something to do with the stability of wi-fi connectivity rather than with AirPlay itself?

I'd like to iterate that I can verify these exact same claims. Since I have just purchased a new Time Capsule and am now using it as my Wi-Fi access point, I can confirm the faulty behavior with both a 3rd party as well as an Apple Wi-Fi access point.

Folks, interesting news. We could have bad units. I have a buddy with an iPhone 4s, same model as mine, 64gb on AT&T and he came over yesterday, side by side, mine phone dropped the AirTunes after about 40sec, his played for 5 minutes and appeared as though it could go on as long as we waited. Has anyone gone to apple store and swapped out their phone?

I might try today. I'll update if it fixes the issue.

I was wondering if you maybe compared settings on both iPhones? Did he have Cellular Data turned on (I guess he did but you never know), etc. etc.

my worst fear is that they are bad units. i have 2 iphone 4s in my house that are experiencing this issue, but they were bought at the same time so they could be part of a "bad batch". there is a guy in this thread who swapped out his 4s and still had the same problem, but again maybe he got another one from the "bad batch". it's been a few weeks since i bought mine, and suppose swapping it out at this point would be an option, but in no way a guarantee of success.
