Exchange Account "Unable to verify account information"

New iPad 2 (i OS 5.0)

when trying to sync device to an Exchange 2007 account I keep getting an "Unable to verify account information" error.

All account information is correct, trust me on this...

Tried switching the SSL and S/MIME option OFF to no avail.

I can log into OWA (outlook web access) using Safari on the device using the same credentials.

This used to work on the old iPhones and iPads but with i OS 5 it will not.

Many thanks in advance and your time!

OFFICE 365 SYNCING SOLVED

After tinkering with the process, I have written a guide for A solution to this error.

I have applied this fix to 3 iPhones and 1 iPad and was a 100% fix for the impassable "Unable to verify account information" error popup.

This is not THE solution, just A solution. Hope it helps.

SYNOPSIS

Office 365 accounts on iOS devices need to have all other previously-related exchange accounts deleted from the iOS device (then device restarted) before new accounts may be added & synced.

Even when the old exchange account's server info etc. was replaced with the correct values, it still was not syncing correctly. It had to be removed completely before the new account would sync.

RESOLUTION

1. Delete all old exchange accounts previously tied to the account with the issue at hand:

Settings > Mail, Contacts & Calendars > (Select account) > Delete Account (at bottom)

2. Restart iOS device

Hold down lock button, slide to power off.

Once screen goes black, hold down lock button again to power back on

3. Create new exchange account

Settings > Mail, Contacts & Calendars > Add Account > Exchange > (Input email and password)

4. Popup may appear that says "Cannot verify server identity" (this is a good sign, if it says "Cannot verify account identity", then check existing exchange accounts again, then restart again)

Hit "Continue" at the bottom of the "Cannot verify server identity" popup.

Choose what to sync: Mail, Calendars, Contacts, Notes

5. Check Mail app for synced mail

Go to iOS home screen (hit home button)

Click the mail app (blue email icon) > Drag down on the screen inside the mail app to force a refresh/sync of any Email inboxes

If this worked correctly, synced email will appear on device!
