Ipad 1 slows down after installing IOS 5

Adter installing IOS 5 my Ipad 1 slows down considerably. Apps take time to start and especially the writing is so slow that I actually I cannot use the Pad anyomore. I udgraded only because I could not update imoorstant apps (keypad, pages) anymore with the old operating system. But this is no solution. Anyone elseexperiencing this problem or am I the only one?

Absolutely the same here.

I used to love the iPad, but since it is this slow, I am starting to hate it. I want to downgrade!!!

It has made me re-think if I really will buy the iPhone 4s, or should I maybe check out that Samsung Nexus which will be released in November.

I hear that battery life of the iPhone is short with this ios5. I got thr same feeling with the iPad. It is not only slower with this new ios5, but you runout of battery much quicker than with the previous ios.

No, I am no longer an apple fan.

Apple Updates Slow Devices Down - Everytime Guarranteed!

Having owned one of the first iPhones in 2007 and then upgraded to 3GS two years later and now owning an iPhone 4s as well as owning iPad 1 I am all to familiar with sluggish performance after many OS updates. So much so I decided not to update my iPhone 3GS + iPad 1 to OS 5. I synced my iPad this morning and again it asked to download and install new OS 5. I again refused but wanted to google if anyone else noticed how Apple updates slow devices down and I found this forum!

I will keep my Apple products on their original OS in future because these updates slow your devises down to a crawl!

My last iPad update was from 3.0 to 4.0 and it's so sluggish my £700 iPad has become a dissapointment and frustration and I've been considering upgrading to a newer one because of this problem but I only had my iPad 1 a few months and you can't keep buying new Apple products - they are a premium product after all!

I will NOT be updating my OS software because Apple doesn't allow you to go back - never has - and these devices do slow down everytime!!!

Do Apple ever pay any attenton to these forum feedbacks???

ios5 on iPad First generation.

At the local Apple Store, the "expert" installed "firmware", as though from factory

This nearly---nearly solved all the problems.

Still, with 2 mail accounts and ICloud, a longish email crashed in mid paragraph today.

So, I deleted one of the email accounts, as with only one, ( Gmail) it had functioned pretty well for over a week.

Again,

there is a feedback on the Apple site, as the Apple people apparently do not read these forums.

Alas, count me, too, among the disaffected.

iPad 1 + iOS 5.0 = iPad sl.o

s.l.o.w....

crashes....

Definitely UNmagical.

In fact, the only thing fast about my iPad is the speed with which it crashes my apps.

I reported the problem to Apple, along with a suggestion that they check out this forum.

I managed to regain about 80% of its former specialness by following the wise advice of those who have already posted:

1) I deleted the iCloud account.

2) I disabled all notifications.

3) I downloaded and installed (for $.99) process killer.

While this is far from ideal, these adjustments should, hopefully, allow me to cope until Apple allows us to revert to the most recent Functional incarnation of iOS 4.x. These few things might benefit you, too; if you're anything like me, you've become a virtual cyborg of sorts since getting your iPad.
