How do I change my iCloud account on my iPhone

I know i'm not the only one who ha the same prb out there, and I read a lots of stuff in the different discussions, but I want to make sure, so let me ask:

my wife and I share the same store account, and somehow when I set up our two iPhones, her iCloud account got attached to my Apple ID. Which obviously is not good, since we don't want to share all contacts and appointments, etc...

So, I just what to change her iCloud account from my apple ID to hers. How do I do that?

I am thinking to delete that account (settings->icloud->delete account), but i want to make sure this is not gonna wipe out all her data.

Also, I read somewhere on the Apple website that once you have attached your device to an iCloud account, you have to wait 90 days before to be able to change account. Is that true? Or deleting account will do it?

Thanks for your help.

Laurent

I believe that the icloud and old mobileME is natively tied to the appleID and that's the whole point and you will never be able to separate that tie

but I could be wrong

I finally got my iCloud up to date with my new email address on my iPad, but can't on my iPhone. It keeps wanting me to sign in with an old, nonexistent email and won't work with any passwords I've used. Can't delete the account because it keeps prompting me to turn off Find my iPhone. And again, it keeps popping up with the old email/ Apple ID with no correct password. Anyone know what I can do? Should I try to reset? And if so, network settings? All settings? Thank you so much for any help!

Yes. Your iCloud account lives in iCloud. It is not tied to particular devices. You can sign it on to any device you wish. When you sign it on, it will ask if you want to merge any contact info from the new device. If you say yes, then anything in contacts on the device will upload to the iCloud account. If you say no, then the iCloud account contacts are what will be on your device. Photo Stream will still be there, as will any other iCloud data.

i restored our new 5C from an old backup on my laptop! I should have done it from iCloud which was up to date. The laptop restore put in year old data one of which was a previous iCloud/Apple user ID!!! Now I have year old data on the new phone... there is still a new backup on iCloud under a different name/ID... cannot delete the old iCloud as it was disabled and no longer responds to any password... can I reset the 5C and then will it allow me to restore from my newer/current iCloud account???? Thanks to all who have posted... cannot believe I screwed this up...

Hi Patbk,

You will need to go to:

https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/

Manage Your Apple ID for your current Apple/iCloud ID, and change that ID to your old one (the one you restored on the phone). You will only be doing this as a temporary measure, so do nto Verify it or anything. Just change it and Save it.

Then go to your 5C and delete the iCloud ID. When it asks for a passcode, put in your current passcode. That should allow you to Turn off the iPhone and Delete the old iCloud account.

Log back into Manage Your Apple ID, and change your Apple/iCloud ID back to the new ID

Go back into iCloud on your 5c and sign back on with your new iCloud ID

Best of luck!
