I figured out my problem – no thanks to Apple's customer service. My iTunes account is account "A." Somehow I got logged into either the App Store or iTunes with my MobileMe/iCloud account (account "B") when I either a) upgraded to Lion or b) got my new iPhone 4S. Either way, the end result is that I had purchased an app with Account B while I was logged in as a user with Account A. The two accounts would not acknowledge each others purchases. So I had to re-login with the other account. Then the in-app purchases worked again (for the particular one that I was having trouble with).

I am also getting error msg saying "unable to connect to iTunes". What I have tried are:

1) reset my iTunes password - did not work

2) logout and log back in - did not work

3) delete app and reinstall - did not work

4) sign out and then try to buy in app forcing me to relog into iTunes - did not work

5) enabled and then disable restrictions in settings - did not work

the apps in questions are "Hero Academy" and "Tiny Farm" to name just 2 apps. I have randomly downloaded a new app which works and I can download any app from iTunes store... so i downloaded "Monster Life" and when I tried to buy in app purchases, IT WORKS.

Basically, I am thinking that all apps prior to today which I have bought I cannot make any in-app purchases, but apps downloaded from today, I am able to make in app purchases...

Pls advise if u have solution or work around.

thx

I have this issue all the time. I contact Apple, have to wait several hours for a reply saying they is working towards a solution and that they will contact me again when the matter has investigated and further information is available. Then I have to wait for several hours again for the next reply which usually tells me that they have done the necessary adjustments to my account to solve the issue. Then it works for a day or two until I have to repeat the process again. Getting tired of this, anyone know why this is happening? Can it be because they think I do too many in app purchases?

This did not fix my problem. I also could not verify my payment information... kept getting an error saying for support contact itunes support... blah blah blah. What I finally did was to remove my credit card information (and I tried several different cards) and then redeemed an iTunes gift card. I was then able to make my in app purchase. Augh.

Why can't I get in-app purchases?
