iPhone 4s location wrong... Why?

My location on my 4s is completely out, it says I'm about 30 miles away from where I actually am. It does this 90% of the time! And I'm not sure what I can do to fix it. My iPad 2 and other family members iPhone 4 on the same wifi etc. doesn't have any prOblems with this.

Just adding my issue to the pile to hopefully get this noticed - iPhone 4S.

My phone now reports that it's in Saudi Arabia.

Questions that come to me are:

Are my details getting mixed up with another user at the backend somehow?

Is this indication of some kind of fraud?

Is there something I can disable to stop this issue?

like disable iMessage?

Is this even acknowledged as an issue by Apple?

Should I return this phone? It's less than a month old.

*Edit: I first noticed this because it means that automatic setting of the Time is out by 3 hours, that's a serious flaw

Just to let you know... I called Apple Care and the lady told me that we tryed everything we could and that this problem might be a hardware issue!? I went to the store of my service provider and they gave me a new iPhone. It works fine now and I hope it says like that. I hope Apple is aware of the situation since it's not a minor problem.

Has anyone from apple got an answer about this? Have also found out my friend with a 4S has the same problem ending up in the same place as my phone does!

#1, This is a User to User help forum as outlined in the Apple Support Communities Use Agreement

#2, Feedback via the web to Apple is through Apple Product Feedback

#3, From personal experience, my 4S (AT&T) is much faster and more precise in locating me in Maps than my old 3G. It does show me as being in my driveway 20 feet from my actual position. (programmed, regulation limited precision). I'm in the Detroit, Michigan metro area and have had it correctly track my location for the duration of a day while running errands, driving over 100 miles.

#4, From looking at the location of the complaints (now 4 pages long,) and how if someone is only connecting via WiFi results are correct, it would appear that this problem may purely be software and not hardware related (since the locations for this issue seem to be limited to Europe region).

I know this can't solve your problem, but anyone affected by this issue should contact AppleCare so they get more data to quickly solve this problem. You can most likley skip the hassle of getting the phone replaced as many people are saying this does not fix the issue.

I have the 4s my husband and daughter also have the 4s. All of a sudden the location is all out of whack. I found this out when i used find my friends to see if my daugther had made it home safely from college and it put her in the middle of nowhere next to a river!! scared the life out of me.. then i looked and i myself showed i was in the middle of Lake Ponchatrain! My husbands showed he was near the river by my daughter.. what is going on?? i checked once we were all in the same place and while we were connected to wifi at my home and it said the same thing.. i turned wifi off.. same thing.. went outside and it changed.. it's just very concerning and annoying... hope an answer comes soon!
