Exactly, donmackeen.

spartan: I agree the concept of the replacement of an ancient product is admirable. But Apple "will give you a pretty much brand new one in its place"? As far as I know, no one knows what Apple will be sending. That is the ridiculous part, IMO. They are asking us to send in our units with no hint of what we will get back.

I got my box in the mail today. I think I filled out the request form the day they announced the nano replacement program. Anyway, good luck to you all with receiving your boxes in a timely fashion!

And michaelfrombethel, I doubt anyone had the intention of gifting their 1st gen nano replacement for Christmas. That would be a pretty lame present. I hope you weren't intending to do so.

I reponded to the email the same day I got it ( in Nov) her is is Dec 10th and I just got the box 10 minutes ago. Good Luck Everybody, I know I was getting to wonder where the box was now it is going to wonder what they are going to send back. I really like the size and the shape of this nano but when I was having issues with it I went out and bought a 320 gb classic. When I get the replacement back if I don't like it it is going to be my husbands.

just received an email yesterday saying my new nano is being shipped and to allow two business days to receive it. After going to the website listed above and putting in the new serial number they sent in the confirmation email, it seems a 6th gen nano is being sent to me. 8gb or 16gb not sure, but that it was produced in the 42nd week (oct) of '11. so new nanos are being shipped. wee!!!!!

I hate to say that you may be disapointed when products are refurbed they are routinley given a new serial number as the casing is changed and the production date will be when it was refurbed and would be used for the 90 day warrenty.

As far as I know no one has had anything other than a same spec refurb Nano Gen 1 please prove me wrong

what will be the replacement for the ipod nano replacement program
