Ipod Nano 1st Gen. Replacement - status/follow up?

I submitted a replacement request on 11/13 and immediately received an email confirmation. Since then I haven't heard anything, when I check the status it days"diagnosis pending", is there anyway to follow up?

On week 9. Status at "Replacement Pending" but have been there for 2 weeks now. For those worried if it was recieved by apple, My tracking said both Ipods were recieved Jan 3rd, but according to my status reports they say they recieved it on the 15th and 17th. They were shipped the same day so a 2 day delay is odd, but so is 2+ weeks to arrive as I sent them both on the 29th of December.

hey adorkibul,

same thing happened to me. i had accidentally drop it into a fedex box, so i didn't have the tracking number. when you call and talk to apple, they can figure out what the return tracking number was. they generated it. with that, call fedex (or whoever your return carrier was). apple will not initiate a lost package reimbursement if the initial tracking number was never scanned in (if dropped into the fedex box and the fedex guy stole it). you can however start a claim with fedex as a third party (apple is both shipper and receiver). once i filled that in and emailed it in, the NEXT DAY (i sh*t you not), the package was found and the tracking number was entered. it's now in apple's hands.

i think you will. the best advice, forget about the fact that you sent it in, if they got it. and from the looks of it, they have. you know, watched kettle and all that... i was checking the status daily until i called in. their excuse was that they are overwhelmed with the replacement (over 200k) and they're slogging away at it. people who sent these in immediately when the recall was announced got refurbed 1st gen. they ran out of those, and they started shipping the current ones without headphones or cables. i'm guessing that they're refurbs as well. i'm hoping that they will soon run out of refurb 6th gens and give us brand new 6th gen ones, with headphone and all. 😉

Might want to give them a call but I don't think you situation is isolated.

I really think they have made a huge error on this, as there has been zero communication from them on follow up after that stock e-mail goes out that "a box will be sent out in 2 days"? Where's the customer service? That used to be their trademark? Did they just farm this recall out to a sub par contractor?😕

I'm surprised by all the negativity. How many companies would just say "Hey, if you use that product it might catch on fire. Dispose of properly. Have a nice day." A couple come to mind, try HP printers and Canon printers - "Sorry we can't help you with that, we're not updating our drivers from XP to Windows 7. But I can assist you with buying a newer printer."

Will you pay for it?

"No."

Will you buy my perfectly functioning one back?

"No."

(Well it's perfect except for the fact you don't support Windows 7)

Will you buy back my stock of toner?

"No."

May I speak to your manager?

"No."

Do you like your customers?

"No."

You aren't updating the drivers anymore?

"No."

Do you like your job?

"No."

Do you hate me?

"Yes."

Wow, the trainer was right. It takes 7 No's to get a Yes!

I'll take whatever they send me and be happy. Most electronics don't last this long. Or you can buy a Zune, they're really "peppy"! I hear those cassette tapes are pretty inexpensive to buy too.
