Apple,
Please fix this Pain in the *&%* feature on itunes if you want to retain users. it is December and I still have to log in no less that 3 times to finally get itunes to let me use the software. If your experiencing a number of users dropping using Itunes. it is the reason why it's happening. it's fine if I want to purchase new music, but it a pain if I just want to listen to my music I've already paid for.
Thank you.
Hmm. I have installed a fresh version of iTunes over the top of the old one. And repaired disk permissions. And removed all trace of iTunes related files in ~/Library/Preferences. To no avail. The only difference is that, first time of asking, I now have to enter my Apple ID (as the field is blank) as well as the password.
Next step: delete iTunes Music Library.xml file, the only thing left, in theory, that would link the fresh install / configuration to what has gone on before. I'd give the probability of this succeeding at: 0.25%.
And I was right. Time for a trip to an Apple Store and a Genius appointment methinks.
This problem is irritating me endlessly. I fixed it using a combination of the methods mentioned but it has just started again. It's so annoying having to type my password just to listen to some music!
Agh. In the end, the cause of my problem was quite innocuous. I'm a Chrome user, have been for months. I'd forgotten that in answering a query from my dad re: Safari cookie privacy settings, I'd turned off all Cookies in Safari settings. iTunes won't work without Cookies switched on. Doh!
None of this worked for me. I am running the latest version on a Windows 7 PC. I've gone into Preferences->Store and unchecked EVERYTHING, and it's STILL asking for a password every time I load up. Any ideas?
I had the same problem here. But when I read about iTunes being intertwined with Safari, I recalled I had blocked all cookies in that browser. So after changing the cookies setting from 'blocking: all' to 'blocking: third parties etc.' I got rid of the login problem in iTunes.
I use iTunes on a Mac though, so I have no idea whether this works on a Windows machine.
Sign out and sign in from iTunes Store bar. This can fix the problem for now.
That worked for me thanks. My problem was even worse as I had to sign in twice every time I open iTunes!
The signing in and out only works temporarily for me. It's annoying enough that I've basically switched over to buying songs from the Amazon MP3 store instead of even trying to use Itunes. I specifically created a complex password and having to type it in multiple times a day is more hassle than it's worth.
After talking to tech support we realized When you Clear all History in Safari it will reset everything and that includes Passwords.
and anything saved the last time you signed in.like for me was show purchases was alway uncheck when it reset everything.

Run as admin trick worked for me on Windows 7.
You would think because of iCloud now linked on every Apple device that signing in one time with an Apple ID account would be satisfactory since they are all the same account, right? Nope, every time I open iTunes 12 I have to sign in at least 4 times, sometimes even 5, with my Apple ID password and it drives me crazy!! I only have one Apple ID account, so what's with all the numerous password pop ups? Quit taking your sweet *** time and fix that crap already Apple!!!
