Hi all,

Logic 7.2.......Well I guess no posts = good news 🙂

Surely, if all **** were breaking loose for those brave souls that installed 7.2 today, they would be posting "Bloody Murder" rants.....

I take it alol is well then?

Cmon guys, some tidbits.....have automation issues been resolved? etc, etc, etc....

60% don't use imac lol

why couldn't they give us the tiny update thats like 10mb on software update then sell the apple loops and the intel version to the people that needs it

now we have to buy the intel version and apple loops costing $75 when what as PPC users get out of it is just 10mb of files

thats the part thats killing people like PPC users

Feb 10, 2006 7:20 AM in response to Mike Connelly

what i mean is that

60% of the logic users don't use intel base macs

therefore its still useless to us

and no one that has intel has said anything about how good the upgrade is for them either

I was just pointing out that there are machines available that use the intel code. People on here have already reported on using it.

i understand that but most of us are PPC users, so its either to buy intel macs to see any improvements in performance and thats a shame

because none of the intel that are out now are as powerful as the G5 duals or quads

until G5 dual or quad comes out soon with intel what ever comes out there is not much point

and even if it does come out it still useless because buying a new mac and new logic update and the old bugs are still in there except on a intel is kinda messed

even so, logic is still 32 bit so there we haven't and are not using the full power and feature of the current G5s so what good is the intel gonna do to us that we are being force to buy something we don't need just to be able to get a small big fix which most people with 7.2 are still complaining its still there

"60% of the logic users don't use intel base macs"

I guess you just made that number up?

"therefore its still useless to us"

So? Your comment has nothing to do with my post. I was correcting a fact. I could care less if it's useless to you.

"because none of the intel that are out now are as powerful as the G5 duals or quads"

Who knows how powerful they are. We haven't heard any performance reports on the new machines. Until we do, we're just making a guess.

"until G5 dual or quad comes out soon with intel what ever comes out there is not much point"

Unless you want a portable setup. Or a basic imac setup.

"even so, logic is still 32 bit so there we haven't and are not using the full power and feature of the current G5s"

32 bit is primarily a memory limitation. On the duals, logic is using the G5's fully. On the quads, the fix has nothing to do with 32/64 bit.

"so what good is the intel gonna do to us that we are being force to buy something we don't need"

You're not being forced to buy anything. Just don't buy it.

"How can they let such a major bug continue in their product?"

From what I understand Apple are fully aware of this bug but are having a hard time trying to find out why it's happening. They couldn't delay releasing 7.2 so the fix will have to wait until the next version..:( I would refer you to my previous post on the simplest way to fix it when it happens except that I don't remember where it is! Basically, it's this

1. When an instrument drops out, save the song.
2. Click on File/Revert to saved. If it's greyed out, just briefly run the song or change something until it's available. Then click on it. This will load the song you just saved, but with all instruments working again. As long as you have 'Keep common samples in memory when switching songs' checked under 'options' on the EXS24 interface (under 'Preferences') the instruments do not have to load again and the song will be ready immediately.
This takes a very short time. No need to close song or reboot Logic.

How can people say:

"How can they let such a major bug continue in
their product?"

...then in the same breath say:

"I love Logic"

Thats because many of us have been using Logic since long before Apple aquired it and started f*cking things up. LOGIC was a great program---APPLE made it a sh*tty one.
We can still love the program, we just are fed up with the developer.
It's like that girl you've been with for 10 years, and she's developed some annoying quirks that drive you away, but you still love her, cause you know her so well, etc etc.

Logic is a great environment for composing. I love it myself. I hate the fact that it isn't functioning up to standard. I understand how complex a program it is.

To many programming assets are allocated to developing new features to drive sales and broaden the market base and not enough are allocated to fixing major functional flaws. The tension between marketing and programming is something I am familiar with. While participating in a beta tester program for another company that has a good reputation for solid performance and execution of features I witnessed the process. I personally watched the release of a program held up for a month to address a flaw that would have been a problem for some. They actually cared about their reputation among professional users and valued that over the bottem line. that is why they are number one in their field and Apple isn't.

Sorry if this isn't a technicle question yet so here:

Has anyone fingured out how to get a clean XML import from Final Cut Pro to Logic pro for audio post production?

Perhaps my previous comments are pertinant to the explaination why I have waited for two years for this major flaw to get fixed.

I totally agree with you. I'm not going to purchase it either, until I know the issues I'm most concerned with, are addressed. If they can't or won't bother to fix the bugs - we are the FOOLS.

I like a lot of other people here have supported and bought lots of products from both APPLE and formerly EMAGIC... I don't exactly know where to turn, but I'm feeling abused.

i still don't think we should buy the upgrade either even after this very sobering thread over on logicprohelp.

http://www.logicprohelp.com/viewtopic.php?p=10466#10466

mark shapiro who posts here as well makes some excellent points (for the other side as it were). to quote:

"I'm not saying I wouldn't like lots of new features (or bug fixes). But it's foolish to think that Apple is just sitting there neglecting the product or mismanaging it."

despite our frustration, it is worth keeping some perspective.

FTR, i don't think apple are neglecting the product, but i do feel justified in questioning the management of it.

As far as the 'Instrument Drop out' bug is concerned. Maybe it is not easily reproduced. I cannot get it to occur. I personally don't know anyone else that can also.
Which instruments does this happen with? And under what circumstances?

I love LogiPro and don't feel it has been neglected. It is going theough a transitional phase, but it does not stop me from working!
There are still annoying little things that haven't been fixed, but there are always workarounds.

For example. Extremely short loops are broken again. ie If you drag loop a region that is extremely short, the resulting loops do not play. 'Turn loops to real copies' does not work either. Therefore, it is like Logic is not acknowledging their existance. The workaround, simply requires you to manually option drag the region to create the loop.
