Question

Can't log into iCloud with Apple ID

When I try to log into iCloud on my Windows 7 64-bit PC, with it running alongside iTunes 10.5.2.11, I am given this error message:

"Cannot Sign Up - This Apple ID is valid, but is not an iCloud account."

I have checked repeatedly for updates to my operating system, as well as iTunes and my iPod Nano. I've made absolutely sure to type in my login info carefully and correctly. What is going on here? So frustrating...

Hi,

I am having the same problem. I migrated to iCloud from mobile.me this morning (18 December), and the iCould control panel in Win7 is giving me this error too. Very frustrating. I wonder if it is a service issue?

My e-mail is working fine though on the new iCloud servers from this Win7 machine, so the migration was successful.

I have never used mobile.me, but I can't get around this any more easily. I wonder if the staff at Apple know about this? It seems to be a problem many, many users with Macs and PCs alike are having. If only there were a way to contact them directly to find out... that is, without having to buy a new Apple product or pay a bunch to send them an email or two. Lol... No harshness intended, Apple, but please have a fix for this soon! Thanks.

I'm having the exact same problem, I'm also using windows 7 64 bit. Everything is up to date. I've searched all over the internet and it appears many people have been having this same problem, but I haven't read an answer. Very strange!

I sure hope a fix is found. If I find anything more I will post here. I might eventually get round to upgrading a Mac to Lion and see if I can login there.

Here also the same problem. Rather ridiculess that this problem exists. So the question is: how do i get an iCloud account, because it seems impossible to login with the Apple ID. So I expect somebody from Apple to fix this problem.

Hello Rebecca and all the other persons,

I think I know where the problem is. You can login with iTunes to the Appstore with your AppleID but after that you have to create a pay account with your creditcard. And that costs money except offcourse for your free discspace. I don't need an iCould store so I stop with the efforts to get one. I wish you all the best and good luck.

I'm giving up, too. This is so crazy. They call a service free and then make you pay to use that service? Ugh! What's "free" about that? 😟

Hmm... odd that, I have used the Appstore some months ago for sure. Let me check and see, maybe it knows that my credit card is expired? Still I agree it is crazy.

i have an account and my creditcard in for months but i cannot get and icloud account, i thinks that´s really the problem you need that account to get in but dont let you create one, what can i do?

yeah, its a free service... if you want more than 5G in icloud then you have to pay for that... i cant log in it too, i heard we have to create an "mobile me" account but i wont do it!... it seems many people could log in with a gmail account as ID.. so the @me accoun wasnt neccesary... is it right?

i read in another discussion that a guy create his account in a mac, and then went to his pc, so i tried this:

WENT TO A FRIENDS IPAD2, ON "STORE", CHANGE THE APPLEID, THEN WENT TO ICLOUD ERASE HER ACCOUNT AND WRITE MINE IT CREATE MY ICLOUD ACCOUNT, THEN WENT TO MY PC AND TRIED AGAIN AND IT WORKS, NOW I HAVE IT ON MY PC, ERASE MY ACCOUNT ON HER IPAD2 AND RESTORE HERS, NO INFO LOST AND MY ACCOUNT PERFECT...

It sounds like you havent made an iCloud account yet.

Use this link and follow the instructions, its pretty straight forward.

It would be straightforward... if following those instructions carefully were to do any good. It doesn't work! That's the problem here. None of us have been able to make it work.
