If you all have tried it all, this probably will get this issue fix, so long there are no real issues with the Optical Drive.

When initiating the burn, do not use a long title name. I kept using "Dallas Buyers Club", and I saw the same issue over and over again despite my many troubleshooting attempts, which included using different media, resetting the SMC service, deleting the com.apple.finder.plst file, etc.

I decided to use the same media I had tried, but instead used a shorter name for the DVD title, something like "Dallas", and Voila!!! that did the trick.

Apparently, there's some issue with the lenght of the DVD title, so try to make it short, and preferably without spaces.

I have the same problem error code 0x8002006E on my iMac 27, I really make this happen in a "Mac" dislike. I dislike very much and see so many people here with the same problem and, years pass between each other looking solution and there is no response from any Apple technician. What happens? perhaps no one working there or are not interested in that issue?

I was trying to write pictures directly on the CD (none of them in a folder). I got that error.

Tried all the solutions posted here, none of them was working.

I put the files in a folder before to burn, and it worked!

I changed the writing speed to 4x too and it it worked for me.

After reading this forum, and trashing practically an entire new box of 30 DVD-R discs (well, not the ENTIRE) box, I've realized that this is one tremendous way to waste time, money, effort and resources. I've always loved my iMac, until today. Now I realize the internal DVD "Writer" drive is a piece of junk, not worthy of having the title Apple on it, so why on earth did they choose such a piece of garbage?

This is really bad folks. This error seems all too common.

I, too, am terribly disappointed in Apple's support for this 0 x 8002006e error code. While I can still read DVD's in my internal drive, I cannot burn them. I tested the blank DVD's on two other computers (PC and a Mac Super Drive at the local store) and they burn just fine, so it isn't the DVD quality. When I went to my local Apple store, I was informed that even buying the Super Drive would not solve my problem as it uses the same drive info in my imac does on the dysfunctional internal drive. They told me to go buy another external DVD drive brand (which I did--an LG SP60 at Best Buy), but even with that model which is mac coompatible, I still receive the same ridiculous error code....I have spent the better part of day trying to resolve this issue and be able to burn DVD's that I am totally disgusted with my imac. Thinking it is time to go back to PC's as they, at least, are reliable for basic functions....

Crazy that in this day and age we cannot burn DVD's reliably on an expensive current Apple computer.

cbdariu had it right!!! Using to the slowest burn speed possible (10x) worked for me.

I just wanted to chime in to say that I was having the 0x8002006E problem too on my 2008 aluminum MacBook. I was using memorex DVD+R discs that were on clearance for $2.75 for 5 at Rite Aid. Well, I learned my lesson yet again about buying the cheapest product out there. I exchanged them for Maxell DVD-R which were a couple bucks more and burning works fine now.

I was having this same problem too and wasted several blank CDs. I finally ran a laser lense cleaner in my CD drive several times (CD with the glued-on brush). It was dusty as heck. Problem solved; so far there's been no more errors. YEAH! 🙂

I switched the burn speed to 4x like a previous member suggested and it worked like a charm.

I exchanged them for Maxell DVD-R which were a couple bucks more and burning works fine now.

I'm a former user of Taiyo Yuden DVD+R, I've completely switched to M-DISC DVDs and Blu-rays because of its 1000 year life span. So far, I've burned about 100 with zero problems. Interestingly, M-DISC forces you to burn at 4X ONLY. I tried a variety of burning applications including Apple's Disk Utilities, Toast and others. In all cases the burn "locks" to 4X.

I guess there must be a method by which the blank disc talks back to the software to burn the proper speed.

Worked for me..I wanted to burn a movie, so a put that .avi file into a folder and finally burn it..!
