Slow download on apple tv

well its after midnight and it has not changed so my time of when its working and not working is not correct

I also did a speedtest and im at 18mbps

I was able to watch a show from my Purchased section of itunes store but I had to wait for part of the show to be downloaded about half way then it played, so its downloading that is taking so long.

I tried a free show and same problem

well restting the cache on my pc fixed the slow downloading of shows from 2 to 3 hrs a show to 15 min a show but im going to see if it changes in the morning, Apple tv will paly the shows in the purchased section but I have to wait 10 min now until it has the white bar half full

also downloading the rest of my shows to my pc is slow again 1 hour episode standard def is takeing 2 to 3 hours to finish

What did you mean by resetting the cache on your pc? What'd you do to do that?

Also, I'm taking my atv2 in to the genius bar this afternoon... So if it helps, I'll report how it goes.

I reset my cache on my itunes on my PC and it helped last night ( i thought ) but not today

I was also experiencing long slow downloads on my pc from the itunes along with my Apple tv

Couldn't replicate the problem at apple store... Got a replacement unit anyways... No improvement.

I been using my xbox to watch the videos I would have through itunes on my Apple tv and Zune and VUDU stream flawlessly, I have a new Apple TV I got week or so ago and have not used it and its having the same slow downloads, I think its a bug in the software, I really believe that they fixed the big problem a ton of us were having last week and what ever the fix was is not causing slow slow streaming

So do you think if we could downgrade from 4.4.4, streaming would be fixed? 'Cause I remember ATV2 working fine, and then NOT. I do remember doing a software update at some point... but I can't remember a correlation between slow streams from (ONLY) iTunes Store and the new update.

I don't think that would be the case as the majority would be having the issue. At any rate it is not possible to downgrade.

What was tried at the apple store?

Are you running 4.4.3 and having this problem?

And the only thing tried at Apple Store was replicating the problem, which they couldn't. The guy brought out a TV, hooked everything up, attached my ATV2 to Ethernet and I tried streaming some HD TV shows. It all worked fine... but it was working fine at home for me too just before I left. =P

But then last night around 9pm, with my new ATV2 replacement unit, I couldn't even get a 20 minute episode of Family Guy to START streaming... a nice big fat 1 hour 52 minute wait was in the way. The ethernet connection my ATV2 was getting was 18-20mbps...

I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure out what's wrong. The only conclusion I can think of is that there's something wrong with the iTunes Store server itself... >=(

No, running 4.4.4 and not experiencing this issue at all.

I can imagine it must be frustrating, the only thing would be if it's a specific server and looks to be related to certain timeframes. If it was a widespread ITS issue there would be an outcry from most users (and not just ATV owners)

Today I noticed a big change, I purchased a season of a show and the download speed is back to normal 15 to 30 min each and I am going to try my apple tv out and see if that has changed in an hour or so
