Lovely trick!
Almost worked for me. At least I was able to remove "old notifications" for past events.
The ones for future events are still coming again and again.
Anyhow. Thanks for sharing!
It's hard to believe that such an option is not available.
I can't imagine if it's complex or not to implement this.
In my case, I'm connecting to Google Calendar and it's super annoying to have to go back to google calendar interface to manage my events.
Please Apple. Implement this!
Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem or a suggestion for improvement. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem/suggested change solved sooner.
I received a spam iCloud calendar invitation and here is how i was finally able to delete it without sending notifications:
The new calendar along with the spam event were successfully removed from the Calendar app.
I am running El Capitan 10.11.6.
Thanks, this worked for me!
On Sierra 10.12.1 beta
If you are trying to find out if there is something non-hacky you can do about this problem: There is not. 4 years later the reply by Apple Support about this same question is:
"Jaimee
In order to delete an event you do have to notify the inviter of your decision first. The feature you are asking for isn’t available in Calendar at this time. If you would like to see that as an option in the future I highly suggest letting our internal teams know by going to apple.com/feedback. "
It is not very encouraging to leave feedback on something which has been an issue for a lot of people for a long time.
This worked well. Thanks for the suggestion.
Apple really could do more to shield us from the spammers that use calendar invitations to bypass filtering and response control capabilities.
Thanks. This worked for me.
Running Sierra 10.12.1
Deleting from SQL table didn't help. Creating a new cloud calendar, moving the invite there and deleting it afterwards without notification worked.
Here is an easy way: delete the events using iCloud.
1. Log into iCloud, select the event you want to delete, click on the setting icon on the lower left corner and choose to delete.
2. It will pop up to ask for decline and whether to notify. Choose either option you want.
3. The event now moved to declined event, but still not deleted.
4. Click on show declined events, and perform the delete operation in step 1 again to delete it permanently.
This worked for me. Hope it also helps others.
Best solution yet - simple and effective; thanks!
In Sierra, there's no "delete without notify" option when deleting an event. The event was somehow sent directly to my calendar through my iCloud account; there wasn't even an email invitation. The only way I could get a "delete without notifying" prompt was to delete the calendar that contained the spam event.
I obviously don't want to delete my main calendar so here's what I did:
I tested this by sending a calendar invite from my work account to my iCloud address. The event was deleted from my calendar without notifying my work address.
This is a ridiculously stupid way to need to do this Apple.

This worked perfectly! It's a workaround, but it fixed the issue. Thanks!
Excellent!
