MacPro Won't Boot, Rolling Back OSX

Hello.

I guesst this is the part-2 of my journey [ Lion Downgrade to SnowLeopard, MacPro ]

So, I thought I'm all good to go with my new MacPro but after setting up my user accounts and permissions and some applications, I got this problem.

Here's a little backtrack, I needed to roll back OSX for our primary application Avid MC5 :

  1. Reformatted Hdrive/Installed SnowLeo. CD (10.6.3) / installed UpdateCombo (10.6.8) [target mode-MAcPro-MacPro-FW800]
  2. migrated user account/files using MigrationAssist. [target mode]
  3. Snow running well, AvidMC-5 on migrated user account
  4. set permissions of hard drives (info/sharing&permission)
  5. got errors (error16) when launching apps like Photoshop, Audition-trial...
  6. Shut down to reboot... NO BOOT (only gray apple)

Now, I'm running DiskUtility, repairing permission via target mode...

Any ideas or recommendations?

Thank you.

we just the apps running upon start up of the computer., are the apps still launching when you run them?

a detailed explanation what happens to items in startupitems folder http://macdevcenter.com/pub/a/mac/2003/10/21/startup.html

i think you should really worry, they were disabled by the OS anyway.

a discussion about the startup error you got, https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2259702?start=0&tstart=0

from what i recall, start up items getting disabled was popular during the leopard to snow leopard upgrade days.

Update: MacPro running up!

  • Blasted system drive by TargetDiskMode
  • Reinstalled SnowL.+ComboUPdate (10.6.8)
  • MacPro running up!
  • Reinstalled Avid MC - license activates!
  • Reinstalled Photoshop, and other apps - runs fine

Henerally everything looks good with no error or anything.

I'll keep praying that it will stay this way.

Thanks for all your help!
