Updated to 5.0 and now TV shows are out of order

They need to get someone to dig out an AppleTV 1, use it and realise how many good features they ditched in porting the system to iOS.

I'm having the same problem too. VERY frustrating!

Similarly, when I try to use the SHARED feature and stream itunes TV shows to my iPad, I get the same three tv series repeated over and over.

Really starting to think Apple doesn't care about local streaming. This is EXACTLY the type of thing that has me considering a Roku. Apple, you need to fix these glaring bugs, and fast. Unacceptable.

888 TV Show Seasons in apprently random order.

Makes it REAL tough to find things.

Actually, there is a pattern, they seem to be grouped into 3 repeating A-Z lists, some stuff in first A-Z listing, etc etc repeated 3 times.

And I was soooooo hoping they would group TV Shows into Seasons to make it easier to navigate...

I too am having the same issue. I just got off of the phone with apple support and was told that I am the 1st person to call and complain about this problem. Tech couldnt fix the problem, but he did take a trouble report and said that he would report my complaint to the next level. UGH. Maybe if more people take the few minutes to call Apple Support and complain, we could get this fixed more quickly???

Just looked into it more.

It is an iTunes 10.6 problem.

I have two appleTV2s

One with new iOS one with older iOS

BOTH are displaying TVShows in random order - or atleast time added to iTunes order (I Think)

On the phone to AppleCare now investigating issue

I have been checking on some other comment threads and indeed, iTunes 10.6 does appear to be the culprit. The last update wasn't perfect either, you would hope they beta test these things better, I expect more from Apple.

Assuming 10.6 is the issue anyone know a way to downgrade itunes for now? Anyone have an apple tv on 5 with a lower rev of itunes?

Take a look at my post on page 2 of this thread. It hasa link to a set of instructions on how to downgrade to an earlier version that doesn't have this problem.

I am using an acceptable workaround.

I use my iPad Remote App, it sorts TV Shows right.

I would expect a fix by 16 March, can't release new AppleTV behaving so badly, they will get returns....

I am observing the same behavior with iTunes 10.6 - and it does happen irrespective of AppleTV iOS version. I have logged a bug: 11025848

Probably too much to hope for that they fix it properly and group shows like with ATV1 - I think the fact that it isn't is due to a limitation in the Home Sharing protocol perhaps?

They've had 18 months to do that. I suspect the fact they haven't means they don't intend to, but you never know.

I just used time machine to restore my old copy of iTunes, (ver 10.5.3 (3)) and the problem with TV shows out of order has gone away. The current install of iTunes has a bug and I'll wait till they do an update to fix this problem.

I have 4 apple TVs and one was updated to iOS 5.1, the others were running 5.0 and all of them showed the out of order problem, when I was running iTunes 10.5.6. They all now show TV shows in correct alphabetical order.
